WEEK 6: SAMUEL-KINGS

Why Mt. Carmel?

Only two weeks to go in our journey to finish Covenant History! This week, we begin a succession of kings. Many of them abandon God and lead the people to do the same, although a few of the kings call the people back to faith.

The Showdown

Like Elijah I am to choose to:

no matter what. (1 Kings 17, p.495)

1.

Obey & trust God

2.

Express my passion for God’s name

in the face of public

opposition. (1 Kings 18:7-10, p.496) the showdown when it presents itself despite the odds. (1

3,

Embrace Kings 18:19-21, 39, p. 497)

4.

Confront those who claim to be God’s

people for sitting on

the fence

. (1 Kings 18:21, 24, 39, p.497)

As we enter the home stretch, you may be thinking about how you’ll continue to engage God’s Word beyond this Community Bible Experience. One resource we have for you is our video workshop “Studying the Bible Relationally” to help you dive deeper into Scripture on your own as you continue your personal journey. It’s designed for a group to do together and available on our website. Now that you’ve read the Scripture, the next step is to study it…live its principles…love its Author more…love those He loves…share it. Happy reading! Source: “Invitation to Samuel-Kings,” p. 377.

JOIN THE CONvERSATION Think of your weekly discussion group as more of a book club than a Bible study. All you have to do is share your responses to five simple questions: 1. What’s something you noticed for the first time? 2. What questions did you have? 3. Was there anything that bothered you? 4. What did you learn about loving God? 5. What did you learn about loving others?
