CONNECT 1. What stood out to you the most from Pastor Troy’s message on Sunday?

GROW 2. Read 1 Corinthians 3:1-9. At Corinth, Paul was writing to immature believers. What would you say are some of the things that have most helped you grow in your spiritual maturity? What things have kept you from growing?

3. How would you summarize the key message from Paul in this passage?

4. Why does Paul call Corinthians infants or babies in Christ, and why weren’t they growing?

5. How do you think most people look at the process of spiritual growth and how are some of the ways growth is meant to happen? What do you think God expects of Christians when it comes to maturing in Christ?

6. Read 1 John 2:12-17. How is John affirming these Christians in their faith?

7. What does John mean by “the world” and what does it look like to love the world?

8. John lists three typical features of the sinful world, what are they and why are they such affronts to God? Describe some practical ways to combat each of these temptations.

9. What is the ultimate fate of the world and its lusts, and how should this truth cause us to respond to the temptations we face day in and day out? How should it impact our relationships with people who don’t know Christ?

10. Read Ephesians 2:1-10. Describe the insight this passage gives you into the differences between loving the world and loving the Father. How is it possible for you to not love the world?

GO 11. In what areas of your life do the love for the world most often compete with love for God? For each of those areas, come up with a verse from Scripture that can be prayed to help fight back against those temptations.

12. What are the active steps you are taking now or will take toward spiritual growth in your relationships at work, home, or school?

13. What are you going to do this week to make your faith in Christ and the power of the gospel more evident to others?
