Micah House After School Program
2013/2014 Annual Report
wELCOME
Dr. David J. Wilson Executive Director, Micah House Trinity Community Foundation
Micah House is a faith-based afterschool center which has been making an impact in the next generation of Redlands since 2001. There are two locations, Oxford Drive and Chapel Street. Both houses were created with the purpose of helping low-income families meet the tremendous challenges faced by their children in the under-resourced neighborhood of North Redlands. Our goal is to mobilize volunteers and provide programs that focus on the educational, social, emotional and spiritual needs of children and youth from 1st through 12th grade. These programs include homework help, tutoring, literacy support, art, recreational activities, computer training, character building, and college preparation. Children also participate in Story-Time which includes a story from the bible or a person of inspirational faith.
Micah House meets the needs of this community through a whole-family approach that addresses children, youth, adults and the community as a whole. Our volunteers come from community organizations, local schools, local churches and the University of Redlands. The public sector, the private sector and the social sector all play integral parts in making Micah House successful. The facilities are provided by the City of Redlands (public). The program is funded through gifts from generous individuals and business who participate in our fundraising efforts (private). And the salaries of our staff are paid by local churches (social). On behalf of the Micah House kids, staff, board and volunteers, thank you for your interest in making a world of difference for children enrolled at Micah House.
Our annual backpack give-away reaches hundreds of Redlands students.
