Milestone 5: Launch Alec Jacks, SrHi Pastor 5.24.2015 Senior Sunday

Connection Group Questions Taken from the sermon on May 24, 2015 Milestone 5: LAUNCH

n Questions for “Group Discussion” • 2 Cor. 5:14 uses the phrase “compel”. Look up the definition for “compel” and discuss what does “His love compels us” look like in our daily lives? • When we see people as made in the image of God & someone Christ died for, how will that change the “abrasive” people we deal with in life? • Alec used the phrase “be willing to cross the line into awkwardness” to share Jesus. What is a “line of awkwardness” in your life?

n Questions for “Personal Growth” • Monday-Will you be transformed? Please read 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. What are the two dwellings that Paul discusses in vv.1-4 and how do they relate? Which do we live in now and when do we obtain the other? Which is preferable and why? How would you answer those who believe that they will receive their “rewards” in this lifetime. • Tuesday-Faith in the unseen… Please re-read the passage from yesterday. Remembering the two “homes” in vv-6-8, how was Paul’s confidence affected by that perspective? Was his hope secured in things “seen” or “unseen”?How would you define faith? From v. 9, what should our goal be? What does v.10 teach us about the coming judgment? How would you answer someone who says that our focus should be on this life rather than the “fairy tales” of the Bible? If time permits, review what Scripture says about our eternal rewards (4:16-5:10). • Wednesday-Motivated by pride or love? Now, please read through vv.11-21 a couple of times -remembering what we have learned about Paul’s perspective. What motivated Paul’s work? Take some time to consider if your Christian service is motivated by the desire to receive “atta-boys” or if it is in response to your great understanding and appreciation for what Christ has done for you personally. • Thursday-Whose “approval” do you need? Paul was described as “beside himself”. What does that mean and what was his response to it? Have you ever felt “misunderstood”? What was your heart response to that? How can you, as Paul did, stay focused on the end goal, to show others His great love and provision for them? Please read Colossians 1:28-29. How do these verses encourage & challenge you? • Friday-Christ as our LAUNCHing point… As those whose lives have been spared by Christ, it should be our desire to launch others into a personal relationship with Him, acting as God’s ambassadors. Why would that often involve teaching them about the urgent need to open their eyes and accept the gift of salvation…to be reconciled to Him while they can? How would you define “reconciliation” from a Christian perspective?
