About us Vision

Building Generations for Jesus Christ. Mission

The purposes of Spring Hills Baptist Church are carried out through the following priorities: Love like Jesus! Mark 12:30 Jesus teaches us to love with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. When we seek to love God and those around us like Jesus did, we will impact the world for Him. Live like Jesus! I John 2:6 tells us that all Christians should live as Jesus did. As we learn to live like Him by following the lead of the Holy Spirit, we will have joy and peace, while experiencing the life that He promised. Lead like Jesus! In Mark 1:39 Jesus taught us that the leader is to be the servant of all. As we lead like Jesus, others will be drawn to faith in Him, as they encounter Christ in us.

Values

At Spring Hills there are specific core values that guide and shape who we are and what we believe: Authentic Worship Absolute Truth Continual Prayer Holy Spirit Led Discipleship Relationships Effective Service Family Focused Healing & Wholeness Radical Obedience Mission Minded

Welcome to Spring Hills Greetings! We are so glad you are here and thank you for your interest in the ministries of Spring Hills Baptist Church. Our vision at Spring Hills is “Building Generations for Jesus Christ” and our mission is to “Love, Live, and Lead like Jesus.” We have two campuses, both with the same vision and mission focus. Our Granville Campus was established in 1989 under the leadership of my father, Jeff Pound, and I have been Senior Pastor since 2012. In April, 2017, under the leadership of Campus Pastor Jeff Houghton, we began having Sunday morning services at our Utica Campus. It is our hope that you will listen for God’s lead and sense His direction for your life as you browse through this directory to see what opportunities we have available for you and your family. Most of the ministry activities detailed in this Ministry Guide take place at our Granville Campus, however, all are welcome and encouraged to participate. We are certain that, as our ministry continues to develop at our Utica Campus, more and more ministry opportunities will become available at that campus as well. You may be looking for a place to use your gifts in service or a place to grow through our various study opportunities, such as those under the umbrella of Spring Hills University. We also have many fellowship opportunities planned throughout the year that will encourage new friendships and make way for a whole lot of fun. Please don’t hesitate to contact any one of our pastors or ministry leaders with questions about the opportunities presented in this guide. Also, be sure to check our website, springhillschurch.org, and download our church app (free and available for Android and Apple devices) to see our bulletins, sermon fill-in notes, church events and updates for both of our campuses. I look forward to meeting you and hope you will feel at home at Spring Hills Baptist Church! In Christ,

Tom Pound Senior Pastor

Next Steps NEXT STEPS AREA

Are you new to Spring Hills or are you looking for ways to get connected and involved? Stop by the Next Steps area at the back of the Worship Center after any of our services.

1. Start Here! Spring Hills Connection Class Our Spring Hills Connection Class is the best place to start at Spring Hills. Learn about our story, what we believe, our values, and how to get connected. You’ll learn how to discover your gifts, where to serve, and what is involved with membership.

When: the first Sunday of each month (10:30am - 12PM)

Where: Granville Campus - Second Floor - Youth Room

Childcare is provided for infant - 6th grade

Questions: Contact Pastor Tevis, [email protected]

2. Join a group, attend events, volunteer There are a number of opportunities where you can get connected by simply getting involved and getting to know other people. Check out these options… Option 1: Larger Groups and Ministry Teams Here are some examples of larger groups and ministry teams…

Men’s Ministries Women’s Ministries Mom2Mom Women’s Adventure Group Young Adult Ministry Celebrate Recovery Ministry Teams (e.g. Host Team, Kids Ministry, Teen Ministry, Missions Cafe, Video Production)

Option 2: Events Check out our events page to learn about ways to get involved by attending an event or participating in a serving opportunity. Option 3: Volunteer Serving on a ministry team can be a great way to get involved, meet people and make a difference.

18

Next Steps 3. Join a Small Group Spiritual growth best happens in community. Life groups are small groups where people do life together and grow spiritually. We have various kinds of groups including home groups, study groups, service groups, and support groups. The best place to learn about our groups is at a Group Life Event. You will get to meet some people as well as some of our group leaders. You will receive information about all of our groups and learn how you can join a group or how to start a group. These events take place two times a year after each of our services and childcare is provided. The first is in the fall (Sept. or Oct.) and the other is at the beginning of each year (Jan. or Feb.). These are the best times to get involved with groups as well as to start a group. However, we realize some people may not be able to attend a Group Life Event or they may not want to wait until the next Group Life Event. In that case, you can sign up to have someone from our Life Group Leadership Team contact you to personally talk with you about our groups and the options that are available. We are always looking for people to help start new groups. If you think you might be interested, we would love to help. We provide some great resources and training to help. We would help you form a Starter Group or give you an opportunity to test drive a group for 6-8 weeks.

4. Learn how to serve & lead Spring Hills University seeks to fulfill our vision of building generations for Jesus Christ through classes designed to help you grow spiritually, to discover your God-given gifts, to develop you as a leader and to help you build a strong family and leave a legacy.

5. Make disciples & go beyond our walls We are committed to Jesus’ mission to go and make disciples. We believe every believer is called to move beyond our walls to serve and share God’s love with our community and world.

Please reach out to Dan and Brittany Pound if you would like to fill one of our volunteer positions. Volunteers have a variety of ways to pick up the call to raise a generation for the kingdom. They can serve in a classroom, donate snacks, greet both parents and children, teach, read, play, serve snacks, play music or act out Bible skits. Jesus couldn’t help but immerse Himself in the lives of children, as seen in Matthew 19:14. “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these,’” and we embrace the call of God to love His children and raise them up to know, experience and love God.

emerge ministry

round 1

Adults Emerge Young Adult Ministry The Young Adult Ministry at Spring Hills is designed to equip college students, those working after high school, and recent graduates to follow Jesus as disciples, and to make disciples in our culture and among the nations. We do that through mentoring, life groups, and larger gatherings. Emerge Gatherings Each month young adults in our community share a meal and worship Jesus together. These meals are hosted by different families in the community. Life Groups Life groups are small groups of young adults that are interested in spirituality and discipleship to Jesus. They meet weekly and provide a space to share life with one another and to study Jesus. There are several young adult life groups with singles and couples from the age of 19 to 30. full color logo & badge

Senior Adult Ministry Those Christian adults moving beyond their 50’s have a special place here at Spring Hills. For as Paul wrote to his beloved Titus, “Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance… and older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, …teaching what is good,” [Titus 2:2,3] so we too see them as women and men of great worth, talent and contribution! In an effort to create avenues of fellowship, connection and engagement, we offer periodic SAM programs: Bible studies, group outings, nites of prayer, fun fellowships, worship experiences and more. Contact Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick to volunteer or for more information. Contact: Pastor Gary Kirkpatrick [email protected]

However, we realize some people may not be able to attend a Group Life Event or they may not want to wait until the next Group Life Event. In that case, you can sign up to have someone from our Life Group Leadership Team contact you to personally talk with you about our groups and the options that are available.
