Usher Ministry Team Quick Reference Page This page is a Quick Reference Guide only. Please read the rest of the Playbook and then refer to the information on this page as necessary.

How I Can Make Sure Every Sunday is a WIN The Sunday is a win if each week, the offering is received in under 1 minute 15 seconds (see p. 3)

The Leader Tony Gambone is the leader of this ministry team. Tony’s cell is 281-877-2187. His email address is [email protected]. (see p. 3)

The Schedule The current scheduling for this ministry is to serve two weeks on and then two weeks off. (see p. 3)

What do I do if I can’t be there? First, try to get someone on the roster to cover your spot from the ministry team roster provided to you by Pastor Adam. If you can’t find someone, notify Tony by email by Thursday so that he and the usher captains can be prepared to find a replacement so that every position is covered. (see p. 3)

The Procedure Before the service begins, head into the storage room (in the main foyer past the restrooms) to retrieve your usher lanyard for the service you are about to attend. The upper right corner of the lanyard will tell you which row you are to serve. There are corresponding numbers on the floor behind the very last chair showing which row you are to serve on. As you head into the worship center grab a few extra worship guides to be handed out after praise & worship to those who need one. At the end of the service when the host calls for the ushers, head to the front of your row and either pass out buckets or collect them. Remember the key is FAST! When you are finished with your row head back to the storage room, where you will help sort between connection cards and offerings. The connection cards go in the appropriate service basket on the shelf next to the table while the offerings are place in an envelope (found on the shelf as well) and then put in the safe. Then the buckets go back in the worship center. (see p. 4) Cue to hand out extra worship guides Your cue to hand out extra worship guides to those who don’t have one is when the host says, “Raise your hand if you do not have a worship guide and one of our ushers will be right by with one for you.” (see p. 4) Cue to receive the offering Your cue to leave your seat and walk to the front of the worship center to either pass out or collect the buckets of the offering is when the host says, “Ushers, it’s time for us to receive our offering.” (see p. 4) What do I do after I received the offering? When you have collected the offering from your section and have a large stack of buckets, head back to the storage room. On the table next to the ice machine the Usher Captain is responsible for sorting connection cards from offerings. Please stay and help. Once the connection cards are sorted, they are placed in appropriate service time basket and the offerings are placed in a plastic money envelop and then deposited in the safe under the lanyards. Once all the buckets are empty take them and put them back in the appropriate stacks under each section. How Can I Make Sure Every Sunday is a WIN? The Sunday is a win if each week, the offering is received in under 1 minute 15 seconds How does this ministry “reach the lost at any cost and grow them to maturity”? (our Mission Statement) The Usher ministry team helps reach the lost by collecting the connection cards at the end of the service so the follow up process can begin on all 1st time guest. It also helps grow them to maturity by collecting the tithes which is an act of obedience and worship. Which of the 5 Biblical purposes does this ministry fulfill? Discipleship – This ministry team fulfills the purpose of discipleship because it is through the connection cards that people take their next spiritual step in their relationship with Christ. Whether it is to become a Christ-follower for the first time or to memorize a verse, by collecting their collection card it allows the pastors to follow up on the decisions. Worship – This ministry team also fulfills the purpose of worship because the usher ministry team receives people’s tithes and offerings. This is a major act of worship for so many people.

There are corresponding numbers on the floor behind the very last chair showing which row you are to serve on. (See below) There is also a map of the worship center on the back of the usher lanyard.

As you head into the worship center grab a few extra worship guides to be handed out after praise & worship to those who need one. After praise & worship, when the host asks for those who don’t have worship guides to hold up their hands please walk around your area and pass out the extra worship guides you brought in. At the end of the service when the host calls for the offering, head to the front of your row. If your row has an “A” you will be passing out the buckets. Simply pass them out FAST. Do not wait for the buckets to reach the end of the row before handing out the next bucket, just keep handing buckets out. It should take you 45 seconds to pass out all the buckets. Remember the key is FAST! If your row has a “B” you will be collecting the buckets. Simply collect all the buckets as quickly as possible and head to the back of the worship center. When you are finished with your row head back to the storage room, where you will help sort the collection between connection cards and offerings and drop off your usher lanyard. The connection cards go in the appropriate service basket on the shelf next to the table while the offerings are place in an envelope (found on the shelf as well) and then put in the safe. The safe is located immediately under where the lanyard are hung.

After all the buckets are empty, take them all back into the worship center and put them in stacks (one for each row for a given section) and then put them back under the chairs for the next service of ushers.

Where do I stand? After to get your usher lanyard from the storage room and grab extra worship guides you may sit where ever you wish in the worship center. We encourage you to sit close to your row, but that is simply for convenience. Cue to hand out extra worship guides Your cue to hand out extra worship guides to those who don’t have one is when the host says, “Raise your hand if you do not have a worship guide and one of our ushers will be right by with one for you.” Cue to receive the offering Your cue to leave your seat and walk to the back of the worship center to either pass out or collect the buckets for the offering is when the host says, “Ushers, it’s time for us to receive our offering.” What do I do after I received the offering? When you have collected the offering from your section and have a large stack of buckets, head back to the storage room. On the table next to the ice machine the Usher Captain is responsible for sorting connection cards from offerings. Please stay and help. Once the connection cards are sorted, they are placed in appropriate service time basket and the offerings are placed in a plastic money envelop and then deposited in the safe under the lanyards. Once all the buckets are empty take them and put them back in the appropriate stacks under each section. When am I done? You are done when: 1. The collection has been separated between connection cards and offering and both are put in their appropriate place 2. Buckets are back in the worship center in proper stacks under the chairs for each section
