CONGRATULATIONS - Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Josh (Desiree) Dollahite on the arrival of Master James Hammond Dollahite, born on March 6, 2020. HYMN SING – Join Dr. Aaron Rice on Facebook Live TODAY at 3:30 pm to sing hymns that help share the richness of the gospel and the beauty of Jesus Christ. To access the service directly, go to www.facebook.com/fpcrome or click the button you’ll find on our church web page, www.fpcrome.org. You do not need to be a Facebook user to access the service. CONTINUING OUR GENEROSITY – In weeks where we do not meet for corporate worship, we encourage you to continue to make your offering to the Lord by giving through the mail, dropping off in a sealed envelope in the secure black mailbox outside the church office, or electronically by following this link: https://www.shelbygiving.com/app/giving/firs101214 or through the ShelbyNext Membership App on your mobile device. If you have not been connected through the ShelbyNext Membership app on your mobile device, contact Tracy Dupree at [email protected] or leave a message with the church office and she will help you get set up. COMMUNITY MINISTRIES – As we are continuing to pray for our world, nation and community in this difficult time, an opportunity to serve has been brought to our Community Ministries (local missions) Ministry Team. We are all aware of the demands on our healthcare community during this crisis, especially those working on the frontlines. The team in one of these special patient care units are working extended shifts to care for some of the sickest within our community. Due to the necessary safety precautions, they are unable to leave the unit for lunch/dinner. The healthcare team of thirty men and women includes nurses, nursing assistants, housekeeping personnel, and National Guard officers. The church will make arrangements to provide lunch and dinner to the 30 employees in this unit. Providing them this service would be a great way to show the love of Christ to our community. One staff meal can be provided for $10. Each day, at total of 60 meals, (2 meals per staff member), will be delivered. Please consider a donation in any amount. Gifts can be made online at fpcrome.org (Click on Give and choose Caring for the Caregiver: Nurse Meals) or by check to the church office with “nurse meals” in the memo line. Checks can be mailed or dropped off in a sealed envelope in the secure black mailbox outside of the church office. Thank you so much for considering this wonderful opportunity to serve the community in which God has placed us!!

JOIN US FOR 30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD – Prayer videos will be posted on FPC’s social media platforms from Friday, April 24 through Saturday, May 23. This international movement calls the church to make a deliberate but respectful effort to learn about, pray for, and reach out to our world’s Muslim neighbors. It coincides annually with the important Islamic month of religious observation — Ramadan. It is not our intention to disparage Islam or Muslim sentiments in any way. It is our sincere desire that Muslims the world over would have the opportunity to freely understand and consider the Good News — Jesus Christ. SENIOR SEMINAR – The Student Ministries will be hosting the second senior seminar virtually TODAY from 4:305:30 pm. Pastor Jonathan Schwartz will meet with the parents of our senior students and will be discussing biblical principles, and offering practical and helpful application, for how to make the most of the next few months with their students and prepare to launch them well. Brad and Jordan will be meeting separately with the students to discuss potential challenges they will face as they move away from home and into this new season of life. Links to the virtual meetings will be sent out via email this coming week. Contact Jonathan Schwartz for more information: [email protected] WOMEN IN MINISTRY – Since we're not able to meet in person right now, we plan to share some insightful thoughts and articles over the next few weeks from the women who were prepared to teach on JOY this spring. We challenge you to read with us, engage with us and share with us as we all cling to the HOPE we have in Christ and the JOY that overflows when we fully and completely trust in Him! PRAYER REQUESTS – If you would like to be kept informed of the church’s prayer needs, email Tracy at [email protected] to receive updated prayer requests. MISSION PARTNERS – Please pray for our Mission Partners! You will find a detailed list in FPC’s April Newsletter. Be in specific pray for Tim and Karen as they are recovering from Covid-19. CAMP 456 for our rising 4th, 5th, and 6th graders has been canceled. JONI AND FRIENDS FAMILY RETREAT has been canceled for this summer. The directors of the camp needed to make this difficult decision because the individuals specifically served through this ministry are among those most susceptible to Covid-19. Please be in prayer for the families who would have attended- that they would remain healthy during this time and that they would find respite, community, and gospel encouragement in some other way this summer.

Our worship service is broadcast weekly at 11 am on WLAQ FM 96.9 and AM 1410. (There is a 30-minute time delay from the actual time of our service.)

Sermons may also be accessed on our web site at www.fpcrome.org.
