Using this Order of Worship, you’ll not only be able to follow along in the service, but can participate actively as it includes words to songs and other elements we’ll be asked to join in speaking, praying, or singing. You can also download the provided sermon guides for children and middle schoolers. VISITOR WELCOME – Thank you for worshiping with us today. Although apart, we want to welcome you into our midst. We would love to have the opportunity to “meet” you and answer any questions you may have about our ministries. Please visit www.fpcrome.org and click on the Connect Form link at the top of the home page. We look forward to connecting with you! WE ARE PLEASED TO WELCOME JIMMY LATHAM AS DIRECTOR/PASTOR OF STUDENT MINISTRIES – Jimmy brings with him extensive experience in Student Ministries, most recently having served for over eight years as Director of Student Ministries at Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, a sister EPC congregation in Signal Mountain (Chattanooga), TN. Currently he is finishing his M.Div. at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Charlotte, and then will complete the process of ordination as a pastor in the EPC, most likely in October of this year. Until then, he will serve as Director of Student Ministries, and upon ordination his position title will become Assistant Pastor of Student Ministries. Jimmy is a strong leader for our students, and a strong addition to the life and ministry of our whole church. He and his wife, Callie, are looking forward to moving to Rome sometime in the month of June. HYMN SING MAY 17 – Dr. Aaron Rice with accompanist Kyle Coleman will once again come together on Facebook Live Sunday, May 17 at 3:30 pm to sing hymns that will share the richness of the gospel and the beauty of Jesus Christ. To access the service directly, go to www.facebook.com/fpcrome. You do not need to be a Facebook user to access the service.

If you missed the last Hymn Sing performance a link to the video is available on our Sermon page at: www.fpcrome.org/worship/sermons. CONTINUING OUR GENEROSITY – “The Lord loves a cheerful giver”even when we cannot give in our usual ways. In this time away from corporate worship, we encourage you to continue to make your offering to the Lord by giving through the mail, dropping off in a sealed envelope in the secure black mailbox outside the church office, or electronically by following this link: https://www.shelbygiving.com/app/giving/firs101214 or through the ShelbyNext Membership App on your mobile device. If you have not been connected through the ShelbyNext Membership app on your mobile device, contact Tracy Dupree at [email protected] or leave a message with the church office and she will help you get set up. JOIN US FOR 30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD – We have had a great response to our emphasis on prayer for the Muslim World. Prayer videos continue to be posted on FPC’s social media platforms. This international movement calls the church to make a deliberate but respectful effort to learn about, pray for, and reach out to our world’s Muslim neighbors. It coincides annually with the important Islamic month of religious observation — Ramadan. It is not our intention to disparage Islam or Muslim sentiments in any way. It is our sincere desire that Muslims the world over would have the opportunity to freely understand and consider the Good News — Jesus Christ. Head to our Facebook page and join with others around the world in praying for these whom God loves dearly.

“CARING FOR CAREGIVERS” OFFERING – We continue to provide lunch and dinner meals as needed for a COVID-19 unit at Floyd Medical Center, in partnership with Power Ministry, one of our missions partners that has provided life-changing shortp-term missions opportunities for many men from our church and community. Every $10 you are able to give will provide a much-appreciated lunch or dinner for one of our dedicated medical, security or housekeeping team members who work 12 hour shifts with no ability to leave their unit, and no food or drink available within their unit. Because of your generosity, to date we have provided over 1300 meals. First Presbyterian and Power Ministry has teamed up to commit to providing all meals throughout the month of May, as needed. Please continue to show your love and appreciation for these “front line” workers by giving generously to this ministry over the coming weeks. You may mail a check to the church office at 101 E. 3rd Avenue, Rome, GA 20161, or by giving online at www.fpcrome.org, and choosing the “Caring for the Caregivers” fund under the giving tab. CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS – Your children’s Sunday School lessons from March and April are available for pick up! The lessons are such great materials and we don’t want our students to miss out on God’s word. We have set up a table on the left side of the atrium area in the Education Building. The doors are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you have any questions about the lessons, please contact Mrs. Andrea at (706) 506-9865 or [email protected]. PRAYER REQUESTS – If you would like to be kept informed of the church’s prayer needs, email Tracy at [email protected] to receive updated prayer requests. If you would like to submit a Prayer Request for you or someone you know that is in need, you may do so on our website at http://www.fpcrome.org/resources/personalprayer-requests/.

Our worship service is broadcast weekly at 10:30 am on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/fpcrome, and at 11 am on WLAQ FM 96.9 and AM 1410.
