Ministry Updates WORSHIP SERVICE THIS SUNDAY, MAY 24: Join us for our Facebook Live online broadcast of this Sunday’s worship service at 10:30 am from the Sanctuary. Rev. Bill Pardue will begin a new preaching series on Ecclesiates

this Sunday using Ecclesiastes 1:1-11 as his text. To access the service directly, go to www.facebook.com/fpcrome or click the button you’ll find on our church web page, www.fpcrome.org. You do not need to be a Facebook user to access the service. Remember, this week we’ll include a special recognition of our graduating high school seniors. To view or download the Order of Worship for this service, go to the home page of the web site, as well, and follow instructions there. Using this Order of Worship, you’ll not only be able to follow along in the service, but can participate actively as it includes words to songs and other elements we’ll be asked to join in speaking, praying, or singing. You can also download the provided sermon guides for children and middle schoolers. VISITOR WELCOME – Thank you for worshiping with us today. Although apart, we want to welcome you into our midst. We would love to have the opportunity to “meet” you and answer any questions you may have about our ministries. Please visit www.fpcrome.org and click on the Connect Form link at the top of the home page. We look forward to connecting with you! CHURCH OFFICE CLOSED – The church office will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. Beginning Tuesday, May 26, our temporary office hours will be Monday through Friday 9:00 am-12:30 pm and 1:30 pm-5:00 pm. We will close each day from 12:30 pm-1:30 pm for lunch and sanitizing. NEW MINISTRY OFFERING - ADULT SUMMER SMALL GROUPS – In an effort to begin part of the process of reopening the church, the Adult Discipleship Ministry Team will be offering a 10–week small group study on the Gospel of Mark during the summer months. It will be an interactive study with opportunity for discussion and question and answer. Times and locations for these groups will vary. The groups will be led by pastors, elders and other approved teachers within our church. We will follow–up with more specifics with regards to scheduling these groups in the coming weeks. Each group will be limited to 10 people and the number of groups will be determined by congregational registration. Registration is now open for these groups with a scheduled launch week to begin June 7th. For those in our congregation who choose to continue to shelter-in-place, there will be a live-stream option for some of these groups. Please visit our church website or contact Sarah Pope in the office for more information. Please note we are unable to offer childcare or permit children in the church’s buildings at this time. A NOTE FROM THE FAMILY EQUIPPING MINISTRY TEAM – Parents, just as a reminder, we encourage you to check out the Family Ministry section of the FPC website. There, among other things, you will be able to access the four parenting videos produced by Paul Tripp that we used as a basis for our online parenting class a few weeks ago. Click on the box that says “Online Access to Videos.” You will also see a link to some recent audio recordings of talks given by Dr. Rob Rienow and his wife Amy Rienow (Visionary Family Ministries) with encouragement for moms and dads for parenting during these unusual times, as well as some talks by Rob on the topic of preparing for college. The talks on preparing for college would be good for both parents and students to listen to. Your Family Equipping Ministry Team remains committed to praying for you and encouraging you in your God-given role as the spiritual disciplers of your kids! - Pastor Jonathan and the Family Equipping Ministry Team STUDENT MINISTRIES SUMMER INTERN INTRODUCTORY VIDEO – Students and parents, please take the opportunity to 'meet' our summer interns by watching their video introduction located on our Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHhg75VzlnH3D-k96b5sSug) and Instagram. Mackey, Abigail, Amelia, and Hunter are so excited to meet you all very soon!

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL LESSONS – Your children’s Sunday School lessons from March and April are available for pick up! The lessons are such great materials and we don’t want our students to miss out on God’s word. We have set up a table on the left side of the atrium area in the Education Building. The doors are open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. If you have any questions about the lessons, please contact Mrs. Andrea at (706) 506-9865 or [email protected]. 30 DAYS OF PRAYER FOR THE MUSLIM WORLD – We have had a great response to our emphasis on prayer for the Muslim World. Prayer videos continue to be posted on FPC’s social media platforms. This international movement calls the church to make a deliberate but respectful effort to learn about, pray for, and reach out to our world’s Muslim neighbors. It coincides annually with the important Islamic month of religious observation — Ramadan. It is not our intention to disparage Islam or Muslim sentiments in any way. It is our sincere desire that Muslims the world over would have the opportunity to freely understand and consider the Good News — Jesus Christ. Head to our Facebook page and join with others around the world in praying for these whom God loves dearly. CONTINUING OUR GENEROSITY – “The Lord loves a cheerful giver”even when we cannot give in our usual ways. In this time away from corporate worship, we encourage you to continue to make your offering to the Lord by giving through the mail, dropping off in a sealed envelope in the secure black mailbox outside the church office, or electronically by following this link: https://www.shelbygiving.com/app/giving/firs101214 or through the ShelbyNext Membership App on your mobile device. If you have not been connected through the ShelbyNext Membership app on your mobile device, contact Tracy Dupree at [email protected] or leave a message with the church office and she will help you get set up. “CARING FOR CAREGIVERS” OFFERING – We continue to provide lunch and dinner meals as needed for a COVID-19 unit at Floyd Medical Center, in partnership with Power Ministry, one of our missions partners that has provided life-changing shortp-term missions opportunities for many men from our church and community. Every $10 you are able to give will provide a much-appreciated lunch or dinner for one of our dedicated medical, security or housekeeping team members who work 12 hour shifts with no ability to leave their unit, and no food or drink available within their unit. Because of your generosity, to date we have provided over 1300 meals. First Presbyterian and Power Ministry has teamed up to commit to providing all meals throughout the month of May, as needed. Please continue to show your love and appreciation for these “front line” workers by giving generously to this ministry over the coming weeks. You may mail a check to the church office at 101 E. 3rd Avenue, Rome, GA 20161, or by giving online at www.fpcrome.org, and choosing the “Caring for the Caregivers” fund under the giving tab. PRAYER REQUESTS – If you would like to be kept informed of the church’s prayer needs, email Tracy at [email protected] to receive updated prayer requests. If you would like to submit a Prayer Request for you or someone you know that is in need, you may do so on our website at http://www.fpcrome.org/resources/personalprayer-requests/.

Our worship service is broadcast weekly at 10:30 am on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/fpcrome, and at 11 am on WLAQ FM 96.9 and AM 1410.
