Mission Hospital, located in Asheville, NC, is Mission Health’s flagship hospital. It is the regional referral center for tertiary and quaternary care. It also includes Mission Children’s Hospital—the region’s only children’s hospital.

History Mission Hospital was established in 1885. Memorial Mission Medical Center was formed when St. Joseph’s Hospital and Mission Hospital merged in 1998.

Community Benefits Annually, Mission Hospital provides $31 million in financial assistance, with a total community benefit of more than $82 million. Two examples include: Pediatric Collaborative This group created standard care processes for obesity, asthma and ADHD, and also made connections with community agencies such as Caring for Children and Pisgah Legal Services in a new way. YWCA–Diabetes Wellness and Prevention Program This program’s bilingual staff provides patients with culturally appropriate prevention and management skills to ensure long-term success.
