History Mission Hospital was established in 1885. Memorial Mission Medical Center was formed when St. Joseph’s Hospital and Mission Hospital merged in 1998.

Community Benefits Annually, Mission Hospital provides $31 million in financial assistance, with a total community benefit of more than $82 million. Two examples include: Pediatric Collaborative This group created standard care processes for obesity, asthma and ADHD, and also made connections with community agencies such as Caring for Children and Pisgah Legal Services in a new way. YWCA–Diabetes Wellness and Prevention Program This program’s bilingual staff provides patients with culturally appropriate prevention and management skills to ensure long-term success.
