Mission Statement

We, the people of St. Monica Catholic Church, are called through Baptism to celebrate the presence of Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament. In becoming what we receive, we are sent in peace to glorify the Lord by sharing our gifts in service to others and by inviting all into a deeper relationship with Christ. Inspired by our patroness, St. Monica, we pray that all may become children of heaven.

From the Pastor My Dear Parishioners, In October of the Marian Year of 1954, Pope Pius XII issued an encyclical “Ad Caeli Reginam” (On the Royal Dignity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Institution of Her Feast) proclaiming the Queenship of Mary, and decreeing that the feast of Our Lady’s Queenship be celebrated throughout the world on May 31st. It has since been moved to August 22. On May 13th of the following year, in a radio message to Fatima the Pope explained why Mary is entitled to be called Queen. In that address he said: “Jesus is King throughout all eternity by nature and by right of conquest. Through Him, with Him, and subordinate to Him, Mary is Queen by grace, by divine relationship, by right of conquest, and by singular election.”(Fr. Paul A. Duffner, O.P.) The Holy Father hailed the reign of Mary as Queen of Heaven over the angels, the saints, and the entire human race. He asked the special aid of the Queen of heaven and earth for those who do not yet know her divine Son, and for the persecuted members of the Church that they may never yield under unjust compulsion. Pope Pius XII knew of the powerful prayers of Our Lady: “Constituted by the Lord as Queen of Heaven and earth, and exalted above all the choirs of Angels and the ranks of the Saints in heaven, standing at the right hand of Her only-begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, She petitions most powerfully with Her maternal prayers, and obtains what She seeks.” In Christ, Fr. Guadagnoli
