from the Head of School…

Jason Nave

Dear BACS Families,

In just a few days, we will begin our 46th year of quality Christian education impacting lives for now and eternity. As we prepare for nearly 1,000 students on our campus daily, there is no denying that we have been significantly blessed by God’s hand and your support. This summer has been a busy but productive summer, and I think our students are in store for a great year. As our families prepare to come onto campus, here are some helpful details. Our facilities continue to be enhanced. This summer focused on the back gym which was initially constructed in 1995. Improvements included a new roof, refinished floor, new motorized telescoping bleachers, new crash pads, a remodeled balcony, and sprucing of the walls. The Fine Arts Annex, Junior High, and Elementary buildings all received new roofs while the Elementary received new carpet in the hallways. The C building is also currently getting a sprinkler system installed to optimize safety. In the realm of safety, our Main Office door to the exterior has been outfitted with a locking system with bell and camera, and our teachers and staff have been involved in specific school safety training. As I write, our parking lots are being refurbished and resealed, and our aim is a smooth surface for our vehicles, and our traffic pattern remains the same as last year.

There are some slight adjustments to our school calendar for this year. Please ensure that if you are an elementary or junior high parent that you attend our Open House/Orientation on Monday, August 13th. If you are a parent of a high school student, please note that we will have a high school only Open House for parents on Tuesday, August 21st from 7pm - 8:00pm. I will also be sending out an “orientation video” as I have done in years before to give any needed general updates at the beginning of next week. Later in the fall on October 27th, our high school students will enjoy the first ever BACS High School Hoedown on campus. Then, in November, we will have another Fund Run. Last year’s Fund Run was a huge success, and we would like to extend this particular fundraiser for another year. However, we would also like to incorporate the entire school body in the fundraising activities and roll it all into what we are calling an annual fund. The annual fund will present some of our school’s most desired needs and will allow a comprehensive effort for parents, students, faculty and staff, and the community to participate in fundraising. We will share more details about this effort in the future, but mark your calendars for November 2nd as the date for our Fund Run and annual fund finale. We also have some new faces on campus that you should know. In the elementary, Robin Jones will be teaching kindergarten, Kelly DeGraaf will be teaching third grade, JoAnn Boyd and Irene Porello will be additions to our fifth grade, Jordan Worrel will be teaching fifth and sixth grade boys’ PE as well as weight lifting in the secondary, and Joy Green will be teaching music in elementary and theatre in secondary. Also, new Band Director, Glen Gray will lead our Bronco band members in fifth through twelfth grade. In secondary, Rita Schrock will teach Physics and Robotics, and Cameron White and Jake Ricketts will be teaching high school Bible. Lastly, Trac Cook, a BACS alumnus, will be serving as the Director of Student Life, and he’s already jumped in the mix by coordinating the high school retreat last weekend. I hope you are as excited as we are about the beginning of a new school year. Our teachers have been preparing well all this week, and all that is missing are our beloved students. Please continue to pray over our school, students, and faculty and staff and ask for God’s blessings for this year. It’s a great day to be a Bronco! Jason Nave Head of School

Fine Arts

Marianne Morrison

The Fine Arts department at Bay Area Christian School exists to bring glory and honor to God through the gift of creative expression. Genesis 1:1 states that “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” We strive to equip our students for excellence in their creative pursuits so that the beauty and nature of God will be glorified through the creative process. BACS currently offers Elementary and Jr. High students opportunities to take Art, Band, Choir, and Orchestra. This year, we have also added the opportunity for High School students to take Theatre. All Fine Arts classes will focus on developing and broadening the student’s knowledge base, as well as giving students opportunities to practice and perfect their skills. We look forward to encouraging students to skillfully use their gifts and creative abilities for kingdom purposes!
