We extend our congratulations to Jason & Bailey (Smith) Huyser who were united in marriage Saturday, August 3 at Central College Chapel in Pella with Pastor Wayne Sneller presiding. We ask for God’s blessing on this new union. Church Family  Irvin Vander Leest had an angiogram on Thursday, July 25 at Mercy in Des Moines. The procedure went well. They found the stint to be fine and no more blockage than several years ago. The plan now is to try to get his medications regulated and more tests are being done. Christian Sympathy  We extend our Christian sympathy to Justin & Jayme Deal and family in the death of Jayme's grandfather, Lloyd Mike Luden, 84, who passed away Friday, July 26 in Tea, South Dakota. Services were held Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tea, SD.

Prayer for Phase 2 Project:

Pray that God will bless FRC even in the midst of renovation and building.

Children’s activity bags are available in the south coat rooms and hanging on the coat racks in the wing. Guests please stop by the Welcome table to find out more about First Reformed Church! The AED Defibrillator is located in the church office on the 2 nd shelf on east wall A nursery is provided from birth to age 3. Our nurseries are located right next to the Welcome Center located on the south east corner of the new addition. Please contact Trisha Vander Molen and Kaila Harsselaar at [email protected] if you would be willing to help out with this ministry! Nursery alert pagers are available in the nursery at check-in! Children in Worship Activities—3 year old—1st grade are dismissed during the service and meets downstairs on east side of the old basement (The Well). Pick up children after worship in the original Children in Worship area by the elevator.

Daniel prayed with complete surrender to God and complete openness. Daniel was praying to intercede for the future of Israel. His prayer also illustrates how to pray in a crisis!

*Use the North and South doors of the Gathering Place for worship. *As of Monday, July 22 the demo part of Phase 2 is done. They are now starting to frame and build!

Five steps modeled in Daniel’s life that grows us in our prayer life with God.

*The Church Library has been relocated to the Welcome Center—located by the church nurseries.

1. Let God speak to ______ before I speak to ________.  This is called the ___________ step.  We realize that God always makes the first _________ in your life. “…I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord.” Daniel 9:2  Prayer begins the listening step by reading your _________ first.

2. Focus my _____________ on God. “so I turned my face to the Lord, seeking Him.” Daniel 9:3  When we seek God we do not just exist, we live to the ___________ God created us for. “Seek me and you will live.” Amos 5:4  So many problems of life are caused because we have made a decision _________ _____________ to God first. 3.
