s the three women set out on their journey back to Judah, Naomi told Ruth and Orpah to go back to their homes and live with their own mothers. Naomi hoped that the Lord would be kind to them as they had been kind to her. As she kissed them goodbye, they all started to cry. Ruth and Orpah decided to continue the journey, but Naomi insisted that they return. Naomi knew that she wouldn’t have any more children so could never hope to provide husbands for them. Orpah turned to leave, but Ruth held onto Naomi, she wanted to stay with her. Naomi could not persuade her to return. You can read this story in Ruth 1.
