News for the Residents of Elyson
2018 YEAR IN REVIEW 2018 was a great year for Elyson! We welcomed over 230 new families this year and began holding homeowner association meetings in the community. Elyson’s first amenities received new names: Elyson House and Elyson Café. We held 18 events during the year, including 3 movie nights, game-watching parties, concerts on the green, 4th of July Pool Party, Halloween Spook-Tacular, Pictures with Santa, and various craft events for both children and adults. We began hosting monthly Children’s story time on the 2nd Friday of the month, plus three pajama story times on the weekend. We launched www.MyElyson.com, Elyson’s stand-alone resident website and began sending out weekly reminders every Tuesday to over 200 registered users. Baby Boot Camp added evening classes in Elyson and later changed their name to MyBalance Fitness. Residents enjoyed water aerobics classes in the Elyson House Pool over the summer. Elyson Café expanded their hours to include Friday Night Dinners featuring live music and began hosting monthly events, including Breakfast with Minnie and a Holiday Wine and Food Pairing Dinner. We opened two tennis courts, located by Elyson House. A one-acre park recently opened outside the entrance to the gated patio home section. It includes a pickleball, bocce ball, a lighted shade pavilion, fire pit and a grassy lawn area with benches. We built a new monument at Grand Parkway and 529. We added a new shade cover at the Section 5 park on Warialda Trail and replaced the funbrella at the Elyson House pool. Two businesses, Timewise convenience store/gas and Kiddie Academy, started construction inside Elyson.

Elyson Café Monday: CLOSED Tuesday – Thursday: 11:00am – 5:00pm Friday: 11:00am – 9:00pm Saturday: 10:00am – 6:00pm Sunday: 12:00pm – 6:00pm Family Meals for four are available for pick up daily between 2:00 and 5:00pm (except Monday). Fitness Center The fitness center hours are 4:00am – 11:00pm. Please follow proper gym etiquette at all times. Pick up and return all fitness equipment to its appropriate location once finished, re-rack weights and wipe down equipment after use. The gym is to be used by Elyson residents ages 16+. Please direct questions and/or report any issues to Crest Management. Tennis Courts The tennis courts are open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The courts will close at 11:00 p.m. Residents will need their access devices to enter the gate. There is an online reservation system that can be accessed via www.MyElyson.com if you want to guarantee a court will be available for use at a specific time. Elyson House Meeting Room The meeting room at Elyson House is not open for public use but is available for reservation. If you are interested in reserving the room, please contact Melanie Kennedy to check availability and get a copy of the rental agreement. Please keep in mind that the maximum occupancy of the room is 36 people and that the Association requires a completed rental agreement and payment in full at least 10 days prior to the event. Please note the Elyson House patio is not available for rental, but it is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Lost and Found Please note all lost & found items will be held at the Welcome Center for up to one week. You may email

2019 ASSESSMENTS The 2019 assessments have been set at $1,175, an approximate 2% increase over the 2017/2018 assessments. Payment is due on January 1, 2019 and delinquent if not paid by January 31, 2019. Finance charges and late fees will be applied to delinquent accounts after February 1st. MY ELYSON SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS VISITED ELYSON Thank you to everyone who came out for Elyson’s 3rd Annual Pictures with Santa on Saturday, December 1. Residents and guests enjoyed hot chocolate, cookie decorating, train rides, face painting, arts & crafts, and of course, the Big Guy himself along with Mrs. Claus. Holiday cheer was had by all! MY ELYSON NEW PARK
STREET MAINTENANCE
Elyson’s newest park, located off Elyson Falls Drive just outside the entrance to the Drees patio home section, and nestled along one of the neighborhood’s spectacular lakes, offers something for everyone!
The majority of streets within Elyson are public, exception is the new gated section, and maintained by Harris County and not the homeowner’s association. Once the paving contractor has finished construction of the streets, there is a one year maintenance period where they are responsible for repairing any cracks, low spots, etc. After a year, the County inspects the streets and prepares a punch list of any pending maintenance items. After all repairs are complete, the streets are deeded over to the County for maintenance. Currently streets within sections 1 – 8 and 10 are deeded to the County for maintenance. This one-acre park includes a grassy lawn with lots of benches and colorful native landscaping, a shade pavilion and firepit complete with scenic lighting, perfect for relaxation and good conversation with family and friends. If you’re looking for something more active, try a game of bocce ball, pickle ball, or take a walk or jog on the 1.65 mile loop around the park.

MY ELYSON MYBALANCE FITNESS Kelly moved to Katy in 2016 and was looking for a group that shared her common love of fitness and a routine for her and her children. She found this at MyBalance Fitness. Kelly had a serious injury in high school which later led to a few follow up surgeries. Through this she found a job working for a physical therapist. This work taught Kelly the importance of correct form and technique, both in rehabilitation and everyday life. She focuses her workouts on position, strength and mobility. Kelly loves to challenge her clients both physically and mentally Kelly Whelan to be the best they can be! When she is not coaching, Kelly and her husband enjoy spending time with their two children, skiing, playing recreational softball, and wine tasting. Alyssa has been a member of a women’s fitness group for 5 years and has been instructing for 4.5 years. She discovered fitness when she was looking for something to do with her baby girl and get back into shape after having her. Alyssa attended the University of Wyoming, where she earned her BS in Communication and a minor in Public Relations. It was only later in life she realized her calling was teaching fitness and helping others achieve their fitness goals.
