NAME CHANGE FAQ’S FOR CORAM DEO BIBLE CHURCH, FORMERLY HARVEST BIBLE CHAPEL – DAVENPORT

1. WHY DID WE CHANGE OUR NAME? • We are no longer a part of Harvest Bible Fellowship. We pulled out of that partnership, and the Fellowship doesn’t even exist anymore. • We are no longer associated with the church or pastor who started the Harvest movement. • We want to convey our own identity—who we are. We want to convey our own DNA as God has made us and placed certain convictions in our hearts.

2. WHAT DOES “CORAM DEO BIBLE CHURCH” MEAN? Let’s start with the word “Church” and work backwards: • “Church” — because that’s who we are. We are saved by grace through faith, and called by God to fellowship, worship, and minister together. • “Bible” — because that’s what we believe. The Bible is the very Word of God; it’s the foundation for why we exist and how we should live. • “Coram Deo” — because that’s how we live. Coram Deo is a Latin phrase that means “in the presence of or before God.” We live Coram Deo: in the presence of God, under the authority of God, for the glory of God.

3. HAS ANYTHING CHANGED ABOUT THE CHURCH OTHER THAN THE NAME? No. Our new name hasn’t changed anything about our core values and practices within God’s family. We still exist to glorify God through the fulfillment of The Great Commission (Mt 28:18–20) in the spirit of The Great Commandment (Mt 22:37–39), making disciples who make disciples.
