Name: Asthma UK Charity Number: 802364 Contact: Alex Bach [email protected] Website: www.asthma.org.uk About us: Asthma UK’s aim is to stop asthma attacks and cure asthma. We do this by funding world leading research, campaigning for change and providing help and advice to reduce the risk of a life threatening asthma attack. We work with the 5.4 million people in the UK with asthma- we are small but our impact is big! Last year our expert asthma nurse helpline took 7000 calls, covering a wide range of worries and concerns around asthma. 97% of callers said they would recommend our helpline service. How your fundraising could help: £15 could cover the cost for a crucial call to our helpline, enabling people to manage their asthma better and reduce the risk of a fatal attack. £30 could pay for an hour's specialist training for a nurse, enabling them to be vital source of information for health professionals, teachers, doctors' practices and the general public. £75 could pay for a PhD student for a day, working to better understand asthma. £240 could pay for the analysis of the specific chemicals involved in one child's asthma, to understand why steroid treatments do not work for them and to work towards medicines that do. Fundraising Ideas: One of our biggest social fundraisers takes place on World Asthma Day with the Big Asthma Bake Sale. A really easy to organise event! We also have a wide portfolio of sporting events we’d be happy to give Northampton students access to, including London Marathon. Support we can offer: You’ll have a dedicated member of the Community team on hand throughout your fundraising to offer any support or advice you need. We can also supply fundraising materials such as buckets, t-shirts and banners. As well as case studies to show where the funds raised are going/who they are helping.
