The National Public Relations and Content Adviser is responsible for overseeing marketing-oriented content development and public relations activities to promote to internal and external stakeholders, primarily with media and social channels. This role works closely with the marketing and sales teams for ACAP, Government Services and Navitas Professional, with responsibility for media relations and production of materials for media activities to raise the profiles of the businesses. They will also edit, revise and proof-read existing content and assist with other marketing activities as required. The ideal candidate we seek will ideally have the following: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Developing public relations, communications and content plans that support marketing activities to improve profile, awareness and revenue generating activities; Writing media releases and articles to support fostering strong positive relationships with media as part of ongoing proactive and reactive media engagement and liaison Using existing media monitoring services to report the perceived effectiveness of the relationship and market value of media activity. Understanding and building relationships with industry stakeholders to support proactive and reactive communications and PR Using initiative and a proactive attitude to identify generate positive media stories. Raising the profile of business experts (staff, students, graduates) by working with Navitas to develop a talent bank for each business Planning, organising and evaluating social media communications and media activities. Researching and creating content and copy for marketing and communication purposes such as website, course information, publications, brochures and other marketing related materials Contributing to social media accounts as directed Supplying content for use in external-facing blog and social channels. Organising and manage media events and famils Developing promotional concepts and media engagement ideas that support the brand experience. Writing and editing News items for each business website that showcase achievements, events and initiatives. Distribute media releases and follow up directly with key journalists to ensure maximise story traction. Working openly and responsively with the Corporate Affairs Manager, Careers and Industry and the Navitas Corporate Affairs division as required in the creation and management of PR and communication activities; Liaising with appropriate parties including corporate affairs and marketing staff to secure approval for proposed PR activities and for sign off on media releases Support the Corporate Affairs Manager and Navitas Corporate Affairs in any issue or crisis management situation as required.

Overview and Objectives of the Position:

Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, English language training and settlement services, creative media programs, workforce education and student recruitment. For more than 20 years, Navitas has been developing and delivering courses and programs for students looking to advance their knowledge, skills and careers. We offer an extensive range of Nationally Accredited courses from Certificate to Masters level in a wide range of discipline areas such as Psychology, Counselling, Nursing and Criminal Justice. Navitas also delivers training and business solutions to employers to meet their requirements for “work-ready”, skilled employees and provides learners with relevant, practical tertiary and vocational skills, work experiences and support in their career development and working lives. This role works closely with the marketing and sales teams for ACAP, Government Services and Navitas Professional, with responsibility for media relations and production of materials for media activities to raise the profiles of the businesses. Key Objectives are: • Support the strategic and operational Marketing and Corporate Affairs objectives with effective communications and public relations activities • Develop relationships with media and stakeholders with the aim to create content for publication and profiling purposes • Develop high quality content for a range of different audiences in consultation with business stakeholders • Raise the profile of students, graduates, staff, events and partnerships • Ensure commitment to professional excellence This role may be required to travel within Australia but this will be at the discretion of the Associate Director, Marketing. 2.

4.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Essential: •

Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, corporate affairs or marketing.



Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a public relations, journalism, communications or media role;



Experience working in a communications role in an agency environment or in the education sector



Superior communication skills, especially written



Experience in creating content for media, websites, blogs, brochures and social media



Familiarity with internet marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) or web development



Exceptional attention to detail



An ability to work proactively and with a moderate level of autonomy



Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities to deliver results on message, on brand, on time
