INSTRUMENTATION Vacuum pump controller. The Laboxact control, mounted directly to a Laboport pump, includes a manually adjustable regulator, safety-vent valve, and digital vacuum gauge. Laboport pumps are available in an assortment of flow capacities, use premium Teflon and Kalrez resins, are maintenance-free, and do not use pump oil or water for operation. The Laboxact provides control of vacuum levels for a variety of routine jobs with ovens, manifold filtration, rotary evaporation, and desiccation. KNF Neuberger Laser ablation. The UP193HE is an excimer-based laser ablation system designed for solid-sampling introduction to ICP, ICPMS, noble gas MS, and stable isotope MS instruments. The system is ideal for solid sampling of opaque and highly transmissive materials, including quartz, diamonds, and gemstones. Geochemical analysis of fluid inclusions, zircons, calcite, apatite, and basalt can also be performed. The UP193HE features high-energy density at the sample—up to 40 J/cm2—and can target defects and inclusions with spots as small as 4 µm in diameter without fracturing the sample surface.
