New Starter Information Enrolment will begin during the last two weeks of August. We will write to you nearer the time with the details of exactly when you should come to enrol. It is important that you attend your enrolment appointment as we may not be able to hold your place. Your course will begin during the week commencing 4th September 2017.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is crucial to the success of our students and will be a key focus for the College this year. Our goal is to enable you to leave the College ready and prepared for the next stage in your career. Attendance and punctuality are key to your success, both on your course and in the world of work. We will support you by: • Monitoring your attendance (and punctuality) daily • Contacting you and key staff when we are worried that your attendance is slipping • Telephoning your named parent/carer about your absence (if you are under 19 at the start of your course)

2017 Enrolment Appointment Once you have accepted your place at City College Norwich you will be invited in to enrol on your first choice course.

How you can help us

• Arrange medical and other appointments outside of lesson time • Avoid holidays during term time • Tell us when you need help or if anything is affecting your attendance – we are here to support you to get the most out of your studies with us • Check that we have the correct person named as your next of kin on our records

Student’s Union

We have an active and vibrant Students’ Union here at College and they are committed to making sure that your voice is heard and that you get the most out of your college experience. The SU team are here primarily for you so any concern you have, no matter how big or small, please come and tell the Union or your class rep. If you live over 3 miles from the college and travel on a core route then you may be eligible for subsidised travel from Norfolk County Council see www.norfolk.gov.uk/post16transport or call 0344 800 8020.

Looked After Children and Care Leavers

Finance

16-18 year olds and 19-24 year olds with an EHCP: If you or your parents are on a low income, under £26,000 per year then you may be eligible for the 16-19 Bursary Fund. Application forms are available from the Advice Shop. You may also be eligible for Free College Meals if on certain benefits. There is also a Guaranteed Bursary available if you are in care, a care leaver, or you claim income support in your own right or you claim both Disability Living Allowance (or Personal Independence Payments) and Employment Support Allowance. Come and see us in the Advice Shop for help in applying. 19+ year olds: If you are on a low income (under £22,000) then you may be eligible for money from the 19+ Discretionary Learner Support Fund. We do not assess parental income but if you are married or living with a partner then we will assess your joint income (under £35,000). Application forms are available from the Advice Shop or download from www.ccn.ac.uk/finance 19+ Advanced Learning Loans: If you are 19+ and on a low income (under £22,000), studying at Level 3/4 and have taken out an Advanced Learning Loan then you may be eligible for the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan Bursary, to help towards childcare and travel costs.
