NOAH’S GRIT PART TWO GRIT Pastor Dennis Clanton Woodland Church Sunday, August 18, 2019 “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” (Genesis 6:8, NKJV) “By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.” (Hebrews 11:7, The Message)

1. Noah had faith in God. a. Faith is rational. “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” (Hebrews 11:3, NLT) b. Faith makes a decision. “So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.” (1 Peter 1:13, NLT) c. Faith commits. “You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate with them!” they said.” (Acts 11:3, NLT)

2. Noah’s obedience was sacrificial. “Build a large boat from cypress wood and waterproof it with tar, inside and out. Then construct decks and stalls throughout its interior. Make the boat 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. Leave an 18-inch opening below the roof all the way around the boat. Put the door on the side, and build three decks inside the boat—lower, middle, and upper.” (Genesis 6:14–16, NLT) a. He got involved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.” (Hebrews 11:7c, Message) b. Noah loved and suffered. “Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment.” (2 Peter 2:5, NLT)

3. Noah entered the ark. "On the very same day Noah and Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark- they and every beast after its kind, all cattle after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort. And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life. So those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the LORD shut him in." (Genesis 7:13-16, NKJV) "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be." (Matthew 24:37-39, NKJV)

4. Noah left the deluge behind him and started over. “Noah, his wife, and his sons and their wives left the boat.” (Genesis 8:18, NLT) “Then God said to Noah, “Yes, this rainbow is the sign of the covenant I am confirming with all the creatures on earth.” (Genesis 9:17, NLT)
