Northern Frontier Work Weekend (NEEDED: Men, women, and boys* to help prepare the camp for its summer session.)

June 12th, 13th and 14th, 2015 (Leaving 6/12, Working 6/13, and coming home 6/14) (*Boys under age 14 should be accompanied by an adult; Boys age 14 – 17 need to provide a completed permission slip.) Northern Frontier Camp, located in the Adirondacks, was founded in 1946 by men working in Christian Service Brigade groups in their local churches. Its purpose is to win and develop boys, young men, and men to become leaders for Christ. Jacksonville Chapel has been sending boys there for over 30 years. This is our camp – let’s make it the best that it can be!

Saturday, June 12th

Breakfast 8:00 AM; Briefing 8:30 AM; Projects to start at 9:00 AM

We will not have a complete work list until we arrive; however, here are some general projects: Maintenance - painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing Repair Camp road Move and set-up the docks, boats, etc. Check and service camp vehicles Prepare staff housing for summer staff General clean-up TOOLS: available at the site (generally not required) Tradesmen (if available) please bring hand tools for the carpentry projects, electrical or plumbing. PERSONAL NEEDS: Bring a warm sleeping bag or equivalent blankets; pillow; work clothes; hiking clothes if you like to walk; clothes for the cool evenings; mosquito repellent; swimwear may be useful if weather permits and you like the water. MEALS: Northern Frontier Camp will provide the meals for the work weekend. If you’d like to contribute something (desserts such as cookies or brownies, etc.) please contact Andre’ Van Houwe (see contact information below). TRANSPORTATION: On Friday, June 12th, we will meet at Jacksonville Chapel between 5:30 and 6:00 PM, leaving @ 6:00 PM SHARP. On Sunday, June 14th, we will leave Camp after lunch. (There may be volunteers leaving in the evening on Saturday, June 7th, for those who need to leave early.) Limited (Chapel-provided) transportation is available TO and FROM Northern Frontier**. Workers supplying their own transportation can meet us @ the Chapel, Burger King, or at the camp. **Please let Andre’ Van Houwe know if you need a seat in the Chapel van.

For those who may not have time to eat before we leave, we plan to stop for some fast-food at Burger King (Union Ave) in Wanaque/Haskell, Exit 55 (I-287). The van will leave Burger King @ 6:40 PM.
