Turn the Page Philippians 3:12-14 December 28/29, 2013 Pastor Mark Neal “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-14, ESV)

1. Push Forward “Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.” (Philippians 3:12, ESV) One of the biggest keys to Paul’s constant success with his relationship with God was the fact that he understood that going forward would take him pushing, a present tense, habitual action which was continual.

2. Forget the Past “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.” (Philippians 3:13, ESV) If Paul can forget the past so can you.

3. Learn to Focus on the Right Goal “I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:14, ESV) Paul realized the completion of turning the page was in being focused on the right goal.
