#Jesus Purpose  Know Jesus more intimately  Follow him passionately  Desire to obey him wholeheartedly Luke 5:1 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. Luke 5:4-7, 9-10 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” Luke 5:11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

Before he calls us to himself or calls us to follow after him—he provides proof. Jesus never asks us to follow him blindly.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Acts 9:3-6 As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." Acts 9:22 Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah. He calls us to himself and he calls us to do great things. And he always gives us proof. 1.

Jesus was crucified.

He was buried in a well-known tomb.

The Risen Lord made 11 post-resurrection appearances

5.

The disciples’ belief in the resurrection based on those appearances.  Cowardly deserters transformed into bold proclaimers  Willing to die for new belief  Rise and survival of Christianity In the skeptical age we live in it is more fashionable to doubt than to believe. The Believer is seen as gullible, naïve. The Doubter is viewed as careful, intelligent—as if doubting protects us from the hazard of believing something false. But Mr. Chipman saw that it is every bit as hazardous to fail to believe something that is true. -Jack Keebler

Jesus, prove yourself to me.
