Family Worship Guide Week of March 15th, 2015 One of the ways SC Kids partners with parents to make disciples of Jesus is to provide resources that promote discipleship in the home. This Family Worship Guide is intended to give parents content from this week’s lesson to discuss with their children throughout the week.

REVIEW This week’s lesson was called “The Miraculous Catch” and comes from Luke 5:1-11. For a children’s bible version you can refer to Story 89 of the Gospel Story Bible.

SING Singing is a great way for kids to experience and memorize God’s Word. There are a lot of great resources out there to help instill these timeless truth into our kids but here are a few family favorites: Preschool age - “Cedarmont Kids - Bible Songs” and for Preschool and Elementary age children we recommend the Morning Star Catechism CD (available at the SC bookstore) and Seeds Family Worship (available online).

PRAY DISCUSS How many fish do the men catch before Jesus speaks to them? None. How many fish do they catch after Jesus tells them to try again? So many fish that the nets began to break and the boats begin to sink! What special fish does Jesus tell them that they will be catching from now on? They will be catching men. What do you think it means when Jesus says that his disciples will be fishers of men?

One of the traits of a ‘fisher of men’ is that they are a person who prays. To be a fisher of men - parent, co-worker, neighbor, friend means that we must be dependent on God through prayer. We must ask God who and how we are supposed to be fishing for men. As you pray for your kids this week, pray that God would make us ‘fishers of men’ and show us who we need to be on mission to and how we can be reaching out to them.

MORNING STAR CATECHISM Q 10. Where is God? A 10. God is everywhere.

Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES For additional family devotionals you can purchase “Old Story New: Ten Minute Devotions to Draw Your Family to God” at amazon.com or from the Sacred City Bookstore on Sunday.
