Family Worship Guide Week of May 10th, 2015 ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

One of the ways SC Kids partners with parents to make disciples of Jesus is to provide resources that promote discipleship in the home. This Family Worship Guide is intended to give parents content from this week’s lesson to discuss with their children throughout the week.

For additional family devotionals you can purchase “Old Story New: Ten Minute Devotions to Draw Your Family to God” at amazon.com or from the Sacred City Bookstore on Sunday.

SING Singing is a great way for kids to experience and memorize God’s Word. Here are a few family favorites: Preschool age - “Cedarmont Kids - Bible Songs” and for Preschool and Elementary age children we recommend the Morning Star Catechism CD (available at the SC bookstore) and Seeds Family Worship.

REVIEW This Sunday’s lesson was called “The Wise & Foolish Builders” and comes from Matthew 7:21-27. For a children’s bible version you can refer to Story 95 of the Gospel Story Bible.

PRAY

GOSPEL Jesus Christ is the Rock. The sure foundation upon which we build our lives is Jesus himself. No other foundation will do. That Rock—Jesus—is the basis of our claim to forgiveness and life everlasting. The ultimate trial will come for all men when they must stand before a holy God at the last judgment. There will be no hope for those who have not built on the Rock. Psalm 1 tells us that the wicked will not be able to stand in the judgment, but will be blown away like chaff (Psalm 1:4–6) and perish in the fires of hell.

DISCUSS

In addition to asking God to help you build your life on Jesus, continue memorizing The Lord’s Prayer with your children.

MORNING STAR CATECHISM

 8A: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Who built his house on the sand? The foolish man. 


Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

What did the wise man build his house on? The rock. What happened when the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on the house? It did not fall! How is trusting in Jesus like building your house on the rock? It means that we are building our whole lives on what Jesus teaches.

Lower Elementary
 18Q: What did God give Adam and Eve besides bodies? 
 18A: He gave them spirits. Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
