Overview

4

The NZTE Capability Development Voucher Scheme is primarily designed to help growing NZ companies (under 50 staff), who have national or international reach, develop management capabilities and skills. A qualifying company may receive up to $5,000 per year (year runs from 1 July to 30 June for NZTE vouchers) to pay towards up to 50% of training. The business must pay at least half of the training costs. In most provinces it can help that you have already found a service provider (ie: UBT) before you apply. UBT offers some courses that are eligible for this voucher scheme. Note: not all courses are eligible as the criteria limits courses to the following categories: • Business Planning • Business Sustainability • Business Systems • Capital Raising • Export • Finance • Governance

Notes • Although this is a national scheme, each region appears to operate slightly differently with regards to such things as timings and the order with which they wish to proceed. We recommend clients to simply be guided by the regional partner. • Regional Business Partners are often changing so it’s worth checking who your local one is each time you wish to get a voucher. • If you are going for funding for these courses, under the “In-house option”, then technically the training is to be for your MANAGERS and not your general staff. It does appear to be first come first served each year so it’s good to get on the their radar asap. • The “In-house training” is also meant to be for one business at a time only. • They are particularly keen to support businesses that are exporting, or intend to begin exporting.
