Neighborhood Watch News Marie Trascher I have heard of another way to keep our homes and property safe. If you do not have an alarm system for your home and even if you do, this will be very useful. If you have a car that has a remote button that will sound its horn or alarm system keep it with you by your bedside when retiring for the night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off and the horn will sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. It will go off from most everywhere inside your home. Try it! A robber or rapist won’t stick around because after a few seconds neighbors will be looking out their windows. Anything we can do to make our lives safer is welcomed. Remember to get your keys out of your purse or pocket before leaving a store and sound that alarm if you feel threatened. Also, when working outside (especially with older residents) keep you keys with you. If an accidents occurs and no one is with you sound the alarm for help. There have been no recent incidents to report. We all can be happy that our community is a safe and beautiful place to live. With school back in session, please remember to be watchful for our children. They do not always look for cars for people that have bad intentions. They are so much more trusting and fearless then we are. Let US look out for them.

Wortham Villages Local Orthopaedic Surgeon To Offer Free Educational Seminar About Knee Pain Houston, Texas, September 10, 2007 – Twenty million Americans are affected by osteoarthritis (OA), making it the most prevalent form of arthritis and the number one cause of disability in the United States. A large, untreated population lives with the chronic pain associated with OA. A local orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. David Mack, will be speaking at a free educational event for people with severe knee pain. Attendees will learn about options, including knee replacement, to help reduce their pain and restore their mobility. SPEAKER: Orthopaedic Surgeon, David Mack, M.D. Tuesday, October 9, 2007 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Wortham Villages Cypress Christian Students Serve Locally and Worldwide From Mexico to Honduras to Viet Nam, from Spain to Guatemala, from England to Norway, from Texas to Louisiana to Mississippi and back home to Houston, students from Cypress Christian School made a difference in our community and the world this past summer! Many CCS students served on missions and evangelistic teams throughout the summer. Recently, they shared how they helped to impact the lives of their fellow Americans, as well as those in other countries, by: • Holding vacation bible schools and religion classes • Handing out food and clothing • Praying and sharing the gospel with others • Performing puppet shows and making balloon animals for children • Building new homes, painting and repairing old ones • Visiting orphanages • Leading worship When asked to describe their experiences, these students responded, “Amazing,” “Humbled,” “Useful,” “Excited,” and Life Changing.” When asked if they would serve again, they enthusiastically replied, “YES!” Also, they highly recommended that others become involved because, as one student commented, “You will never be the same!” We at Cypress Christian School wholeheartedly support and encourage service to others. In fact, it is part of our mission statement. Whether you are a student or an adult, we believe you will experience

much joy by helping to provide for those in need. A note to parents: Recently, a report was published stating that children who participate in service projects are more likely to volunteer as adults, because they have conquered their fear of the unknown and found joy in serving others. We hope you will encourage your son or daughter to become involved in such worthy endeavors, so that the tradition of service to others will be carried forward to the next generation.

Every day is a perfect day when you’re in your dream home. Call me when you are ready to buy or sell.
