Many of the itembank questions address the standards in their entirety; whereas we may be teaching only a certain piece. You have to peruse the questions. Core Springs can not be given as a hard copy. Creating own items can be a tedious endeavor.

Does not work well with passages. May have to regenerate questions multiple times. Search parameters must be set for each standard individually. Limited to MC and CR, currently no equation editor. You have to link the standards Cannot randomize answers Clever Manipulation maybe required

User Tips

From my experience here are some things to remember and prepare for: •  Kids will “forget” their usernames and passwords initially or magically. Do you know how to manage their portal access? •

Initially Students will struggle finding the home connection portalà yourdistrict.illuminatehc.com à have something for them to take home with this info & username/password

•

Communicate with parents that you’ll be assigning online homework and if they have online access at home. Assure parents that their child will have access to a hard copy of the assignment if they don’t. (Also how to track their kids.)

User Tips From my experience here are some things to remember and prepare for: •  Be ready for a lot of teachable moments on the technology enhanced items (younger kids specifically), so preview the assignment and think like a kid. •

Have some extra hard copies always prepared.

•

Share the data with them, they’ll love it!
