Organotin mercaptides

Dibutyltin bis(isooctyl thioglycolate)

Dibutyltin bis(lauryl mercaptide)

Dibutyltin mercaptopropionate

Λ yellow liquid containing 18.3°/ο tin. Soluble in acetone and toluene.

Also a yellow liquid, it contains 18.5°/o tin. Soluble in toluene and heptane.

A white crystalline solid melting at 13G°C. Tin content, 36.0°/o. Soluble in acetone and toluene.

These three sulfur-tin compounds offer a chance for variation in all applications where the tin-oxygen bond is now exploited — metal treating, catalysis, resin curing, or antioxidant applications. C o m p a r e d to t h e tin c a r b o x y l a t e s , t h e mercaptides offer different catalytic activity, increased hydrolytic stability, and greater affinity for metals.
