Otter Creek Church of Christ ____________________________________________________ Job Description Position Title: Children’s Minister Purpose: Respecting Otter Creek’s rich heritage in serving children and families, the Children’s Minister will provide the visionary leadership and ministry expertise to lead the Children’s Ministry (CM) team (both paid staff and volunteers). Reports To: Executive Minister Relates Closely With: The CM relates closely with the Otter Creek ministry team, staff, elders, and the Ministry Coordinating Committee (MCC). The CM will also mobilize and equip a volunteer advisory team who meets regularly to ensure that children are full participants and appropriately included in the life of the church. Education and experience: • • •

Bachelor’s degree required Master’s degree or higher preferred in either ministry or education with an emphasis in childhood development Five years children’s ministry work experience preferred with any related education and work experience prayerfully considered

Primary Responsibilities: • Serve as the primary visionary and architect for implementing effective operational and administrative systems in the children’s ministry • Create a vibrant children’s ministry inspiring children, parents, and volunteers to give themselves fully to God in worship, community and service • Provide pastoral care for Otter Creek Children’s Ministry families • Develop and direct the allocation of the children’s ministry annual budget with good stewardship principles • Lead and/or oversee specific CM events including but not limited to Otter Creek Christian Junior Camp • The Children’s Minister will lead a collaborative ministry with the CM area coordinators so that: 1. Children grow in relationship with a Trinitarian God, each other, and the world around them 2. Volunteers for the ministry are enthusiastically recruited, thoroughly screened, trained, well supported, and continually encouraged 3. Teaching materials (worship plans, curriculum, and family resources) are spiritually formative, relevant and engaging 4. Children and families have opportunities to engage in community-building and service experiences outside of regular congregational meeting times

5. Spiritual milestones in a child’s life are celebrated (i.e. Birthday Sunday, Baby Dedication, etc.). 6. Parents are equipped and inspired as the primary spiritual influencers in the lives of their children. This includes providing parenting enrichment opportunities, regular communication and training, as well as individual pastoral guidance 7. The children’s ministry physical environments are safe and inviting 8. The CM team develops professionally, relationally and spiritually Characteristics (Gifts, Skills, Talents and Passions): • • • • • • • •
