“What Corona reveals God can heal.”
was not vigilant.
The quote above is from Life Teen’s President, Randy Raus. I’ve been on a journey of healing from a series of traumatic experiences that snowballed because of toxic coping mechanisms in my late teens and early twenties. For many years I suppressed the need to heal, then in the past two years, through retreats, community, and prayer, I really believed that I was close to healing. However, the new trauma of Corona ripped out the stitches too early. The isolation, uncertainty, and lack of the Eucharist revealed that my wounds were still festering, and that those coping mechanisms I thought I had left in the past could easily pop up, if I
Life Teen youth ministers from around the country have been gathering weekly through Zoom during these weeks of Corona. This group has given me courage to reflect on how this new trauma could lead to a greater healing when I lean on God. The beautiful thing is, without a busy social calendar, I have the time to lean into those traumas, pick them apart, and invite Jesus into them for healing. I believe many of us have trauma we suppress. I invite you to reflect on the ways Corona revealed trauma or hurts of your past, and take this extra time we have to invite Jesus into that with you.

Discipleship Wrap Up Our “Animating Christ in the Home”
GOSPEL MEDITATION There are many things of which we can be afraid: being rebuked, rejection, anger, being challenged, having to defend ourselves, standing alone, insecurity, failure, and even death. For some, identifying and overcoming their fears is a daunting task. Regardless of how much they may want to break the cycle of fear, they find that they remain close friends with old and dysfunctional behavioral habits and norms. Maybe what they really fear is change. There are many who gravitate to the familiar and comfortable, and find safety and security in doing so, even if they remain mired in mediocrity. Human beings have to learn that there is life beyond the “what has always been” and that happiness and depth are possible when old structures and systems have to be left behind. Can you leave the near and dear, the comfortable and familiar, the safe and secure, and discover new opportunities? The shear thought of doing so can bring on feelings of apprehension, intense anger,
04
resentment, defensiveness, reluctance, resistance, and even apathy. If we have to be responsible for making the change, cowardice can creep in. If someone else is to blame for making the change, any number of possible negative reactions are possible. In the end, only one thing is required and that is God. If I can rely on and deepen my relationship with God, especially in the Eucharist along with a community of believers, then little else is of great concern. We have to figure out what is really important. It is not always what we think. The Gospel calls us to...live life more deliberately, radically, and intentionally. We are asked to leave the familiar behind. The Holy Spirit always leads and guides us. If we trust this, we will find ourselves doing things we never thought we could do. Always seek the path to joy and love. They keep us from falling victim to our fears and from seeking the nostalgic crutches we think we need to achieve a sense of well-being and happiness. ©LPi

What about then chatting with middle school teens about what they hunger for, and relating it all back to a reflection of God’s desire for us? We lead in pairs and prepare you for the questions as long as you come with an open mind and heart to what God can do through you. If this sounds like you, please reach out for more details. Catholic Kids CHILD MINISTRY VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL UPDATE At this time, we are sad to announce that Vacation Bible School is cancelled this summer per Archdiocesan directives. We had wanted to allow as much time as possible before making this announcement as VBS is an amazing, fun week for everyone involved! We appreciate all who were willing to participate and volunteer this year. Please watch for more information via email if you have registered your children or signed up to volunteer.
MESSAGE FROM TEACHER, TYLER COBB Dear Families, It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you that next year, I will not be returning to St. Dominic Catholic School. After much prayer and reflection, I have accepted a position as a second grade teacher at Holy Apostles in New Berlin. I am excited for this opportunity and look forward to returning to the classroom.
St. Dominic Catholic School will always hold a special place in my heart as it was where I learned about my faith and grew in my knowledge and understanding of the world as a student myself. I have seen St. Dominic Catholic School develop over the past five years and know it will continue to develop for years to come. It has been a true pleasure and honor to work with your children, and I will miss them greatly and the relationships we created. Your generosity and support has truly been overwhelming, and I appreciate all of you. Best wishes and may God continue to bless all of you. Sincerely, Mr. Cobb
SUMMER ACTIVITY Meet Us Under the Tree Through a collaboration between Child Minister, Mrs. Irvine, and School Principal, Mrs. Fischer, children of the parish are invited to meet us “under the tree” for a little faith and fun, with physical distancing. It is important that we work together to stay connected with God and with one another, especially after being away from one another for so long! We look forward to sharing a little bit of time together reconnecting over prayer, fun activities, and conversation. Children will meet us under the big tree by the playground where the buddy bench is located on their designated day from 8:30-9:15 AM We don’t know what size groups we’ll have, but we will work to be safe together. We invite everyone to bring their own blanket, towel, or chair to sit on to mark your space under the tree. June 22 – Early childhood students going into K3-1. June 24 – Children going into second grade June 26 – Children going into third grade June 30 – Children going into fourth grade July 2 – Children going into fifth grade Moms, dads, and other caregivers are welcome to be nearby with or without other siblings. We just ask that you remember to pick them up by 9:15 AM. Please contact Mrs. Irvine at
[email protected] or Mrs. Fischer at
[email protected] if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing the children of St. Dominic in the coming weeks.

Real Life Catholic Empowering you to live your very best life. The Bible and the Virgin Mary: Journey through Scripture is available on Formed.org
The Bible and the Virgin Mary: Journey Through Scripture “If ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ, as St. Jerome famously stated, then ignorance of Scripture is also ignorance of Mary. This is because "what the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ" (CCC 487). In other words, we can't fully understand Christ without understanding Mary. Following the interpretive pattern of the authors of Scripture and the Fathers of the Church, The Bible and the Virgin Mary examines the role of Mary in salvation history. Through a method called typology (see CCC 128–130), we'll study her role as the New Eve, the Ark of the New Covenant, and the Queen Mother. This study also examines Catholic doctrine with regard to the Blessed Virgin, answering common objections along the way. As a bonus, we'll also explore the Vaticanapproved apparitions of Our Lady that have occurred over the last two millennia.” Formed.org https://watch.formed.org/journey-through-scripture/ season:1
