MESSAGE When You Want the Good Life (Psalm 112)

Jason Webb (Senior Pastor) | November 22-23, 2014 | No. 6946 We all want the “good life,” don’t we? We want to be happy and have everything fall perfectly into place. The problem is that it doesn’t always work out for us and we lose hope. The Psalmist knows this and shows us that maybe we have been looking in the wrong place all along. He shows us two key shifts that need to take place.

1. From ________________________ to ________________________ A. When I look to myself...

I ___________________ it

I ___________________ it

I ___________________ it

I ___________________ it

God ________________ it

B. When I look to God...

God ________________ it

C. What God’s word gives... 1. Generational blessings (Psalm 112:2) 2. Light and direction in dark times (vs. 112:4, Psalm 119:105, 130) 3. Unshakable foundation despite circumstances (Psalm 112:6-7, Psalm 119:89) 4. Freedom from fear (Psalm 112:8) 5. Eternal legacy (Psalm 112:6, 8-9; Psalm 119:96) 2. From ________________________ to ________________________ Three key questions to ask when it comes to generosity: A. Do I really trust God? (Psalm 112:7)

B. What’s the ROI? (Psalm 112:2-4, 8-9)

C. Where do I start?
