The River Church Community

Partnership Covenant Ministry Year 2019 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, and not frightened in anything by your opponents. (Philippians 1:27-28) And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. (Acts 2:42)

As a partner in The River’s mission to raise maturing disciples whose devotion to Jesus is overflowing, I wholeheartedly… ● embrace a life of discipleship and mission under the leadership of Jesus ● commit to build up, protect, and pray for The River church ● support the pastoral leadership of The River (staff and volunteers) ● and affirm The River’s statement of faith

And I declare my commitment to a life shaped by The River’s four Cs:

➢ Communion The counter-cultural choice to resist the idol of self-reliance (eating the bread of anxious toil, Ps 127), instead prioritizing our life with Christ who is always with us – speaking to us and transforming us into a people who reflect his image in the world. Communion Commitment: 1. Participate regularly in Sunday worship when in town 2. Pursue intimacy with Jesus through a rhythm of spiritual practices (such as scripture reading, prayer, Sabbath, and personal healing) (please sign on the other side)

➢ Community The counter-cultural choice to resist the idol of individualism, instead prioritizing our calling to live as a member of the family of God. Community Commitment: 1. Proactively seek out a relationship circle in The River that advances my spiritual journey towards mature Christ-likeness (our strong encouragement would be in a River small group, but also includes mission-oriented groups) 2. Build and protect the unity of the body, refraining from gossip and laboring towards reconciliation 3. Commit to two annual Partnership Gatherings per year (for 2019 they will be on 3/3/19 and tentatively on 9/8/19)

➢ Contribution The counter-cultural choice to resist the idol of materialism, instead embracing God's call to strengthen the church (and her mission) through the thoughtful stewarding of our time, gifts/passions, and material resources. Contribution Commitments: 1. Strengthen The River by finding a regular, ongoing place of service where my spiritual gifts can be deployed. 2. Tithe to God’s work in the world, making The River my first giving priority.

➢ Commission The counter-cultural choice to resist the idol of narcissism, instead prioritizing our calling to live as Jesus’ blessing to the world around us. Commission Commitments: 1. Pursue and participate in God’s work in the kingdom outside of the church (volunteering, financial contributions, embodiment, work faith) 2. Regularly pray and invest in relationships with people unlike myself (non-church going, the poor, those on the margins of my world) and offer myself in loving service according to the leading of the Spirit Signature _____________________________________
