Pastor Profile First Baptist Church of Knoxville, TN First Baptist Church of Knoxville, a downtown church striving to embrace and become fully integrated with its Neighborhood, is seeking a senior pastor with leadership skills, spiritual gifts, and a passion for bringing the Kingdom of God to the city and leading and equipping our church to live out God's calling individually and collectively. FBC Knoxville is searching for an experienced senior pastor who demonstrates the following qualities: 1. A Disciple of Christ who: • Evidences a passion for discipleship in the pastor's personal walk and in growing the faithful into Christ-like disciples. • Teaches and motivates so that believers are inspired to a Christ-centered life. • Builds up and sends out humble servants exhibiting the love of Christ to others. 2. A passionate Preacher of the Gospel who: • Brings the Word of God alive by communicating His glory, grace, and unlimited love. • Inspires believers and non-believers to seek and respond to a life with Christ. • Embraces and affirms a variety of worship styles and services. 3. A loving Pastor who: • Will genuinely love us and will embrace our love for him or her. • Is relational, engaging, and present in joy and sorrow. • Has a heart for diverse ages, ideas, and life circumstances. • Truly wants to be, and feels called to be, the pastor at FBC Knoxville. 4. An effective Leader who: • Is self aware, receptive to feedback, continually evolving and constantly looking to improve. • Embraces and affirms a team concept approach to leadership but is willing and able to make tough decisions. • Empowers, equips, and encourages the ministerial staff and the congregation to set and accomplish their goals. • Leads rather than manages and is adept at mentoring. • Is energized and excited about the prospect of untapped potential and unrealized opportunities. • Affirms women in ministry and leadership. 5. An Advocate for Missions and Ministry who: • Is a highly aware and proactive participant in mission and ministry opportunities for the congregation and staff. • Is creative and committed to reaching out to and fully integrating with all those in our "Neighborhood" and looking for mission opportunities beyond our downtown location. • Seeks ministry partnerships with other churches and non-profits in order to reach shared goals. 6. An outstanding Communicator who: • Demonstrates excellence in oral and written communication. • Engages those within the church, the television congregation, the “Neighborhood,” and those in the larger community.
