Assessor/ Pathway Advisor Full-time, Fixed-term A.C.T Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, language training, workforce education and student recruitment. Navitas English provides the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) for the Department of Education and Employment. We are committed to working with Federal and State Governments, education providers, communities, employers and industry groups to provide the language, literacy and numeracy skills that meet the settlement, study and employment goals of our clients.

The Assessor/Pathways Advisor is responsible for the provision of high quality assessment services for new and returning clients, to establish language, literacy and numeracy levels and provide recommendations on program placement. The Assessor/Pathways Advisor is also responsible for the provision of high quality vocational, education and training advice and guidance to Adult Migrant Education Program (AMEP) clients. Key responsibilities will include: 

Provide high quality language literacy and numeracy assessment services to AMEP clients



Maintain currency of knowledge, skills, materials and modes of use of language/literacy and numeracy assessment instruments



Provide high quality vocational and educational pathways advice and information to AMEP clients clients with personal issues to appropriate service providers



Develop and maintain educational, vocational and support service resources for the use of clients and staff.



Provide professional support workshops and seminars for AMEP staff.



Liaise with appropriate staff to develop and maintain Client orientation sessions and publications.

Essential Criteria     

Qualified and experienced ESOL teacher Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to, conduct ISLPR assessments for initial placement in the AMEP program Demonstrated knowledge of settlement services, ACT and Commonwealth government services, the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector, SEE providers and other ESL services in the region. Knowledge of issues that impact on migrant and refugee settlement Relevant experience/knowledge in using technology, including a variety of career development related tools, email, Microsoft word, internet and databases

Desirable Criteria  

Prior use of government program student data bases Knowledge of the AMEP contract requirements and KPIs related to assessment and counselling
