The Pathways Advisor is responsible for the provision of high quality vocational, education and training advice and guidance to Adult Migrant Education Program (AMEP) clients, who participate in the Distance Learning delivery mode only. The Pathways Advisor will also establish and maintain strong networks with local settlement and mainstream service providers and others to facilitate client access to services.
Essential Criteria
Appropriate tertiary qualifications in educational, vocational, social work, career development, counselling or related fields. Demonstrated knowledge of settlement services, state and Commonwealth government services, the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector, SEE providers and other ESL services in the contract regions. Demonstrated Knowledge of issues that impact on migrant and refugee settlement Ability to analyse client needs, provide information and refer clients to appropriate support services for settlement, career and employment issues Relevant experience/knowledge in using technology, including a variety of career development related tools, email, Microsoft word, internet and databases
Desirable Criteria
Prior use of government program student data bases Knowledge of the AMEP contract requirements and KPIs related to counselling services

1. Overview and Objectives of the Position Overview The Pathways Advisor is responsible for the provision of high quality vocational, education and training advice and guidance to Adult Migrant Education Program (AMEP) clients, who participate in the Distance Learning delivery mode only. The Pathways Advisor will also establish and maintain strong networks with local settlement and mainstream service providers and others to facilitate client access to services. Objectives
Provide high quality vocational and educational pathways advice and information to AMEP DL clients
Refer AMEP DL clients with personal issues to appropriate service providers
Network with AMEP General Services Providers to promote the Distance Learning program and build relationships relevant for client information and referrals
Develop and maintain educational, vocational and support service resources for the use of DL clients and staff.
Liaise with appropriate staff to develop and maintain communication with clients regarding their experience in DL

liaising closely with DL Academic and Operational staff to determine the best pathway options for DL clients
liaising and working effectively with other service providers to provide information and support to clients
Supporting relationships, alliances and networks with external clients and bodies regarding pathways counselling and referral information, as required.
Counselling Services Ensure pathways advice to meet client needs by:
providing high quality vocational and educational pathways advice and information to AMEP DL clients
referring AMEP DL clients with personal issues to appropriate service providers
maintaining up-to-date materials and resources required for pathways information and client referrals
conducting all counselling services required under the AMEP Distance Learning contract
working closely with management staff to improve the counseling services to meet client needs.
facilitating open and active communication with the AMEP general services providers
Reporting and Administration Ensure counselling services meet stakeholder and contract expectations by:
maintaining accurate manual and electronic records of client interviews
ensuring legislative and contract privacy regulations are understood and implemented
ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to Navitas English privacy policy
cooperating with other Navitas English staff and external agencies in a way which ensures Navitas English complies with privacy regulations.
Professional Development Ensures currency of knowledge, skills and referral resources by:
maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge and skills in the area of pathways counselling, settlement services, state and Commonwealth government services, the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector, the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) providers and community ESL services in the contract regions.
attending and contributing to college staff meetings to ensure clients’ interests continue to be addressed
contributing to the development and implementation of annual professional and curricula development plans
Other
taking reasonable care for the health and safety of staff and students at Navitas English
cooperating as far as needed to enable Navitas English to comply with regulations involving health, safety and welfare.
