Pete Martinez is Deputy Vice President of State Advocacy for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), representing the country’s leading pharmaceutical research and biotechnology companies, which are devoted to inventing medicines that allow patients to live longer, healthier, and more productive lives. An active governmental affairs professional, Pete is responsible for PhRMA’s state advocacy efforts throughout the Southern states. An advocate for patient access to medications, Pete has led numerous campaigns to enhance insurance coverage and protect patients in state Medicaid programs. And, he has been recognized for his leadership in promoting a better climate for private sector innovation through civil justice and governmental ethics reform. Prior to joining PhRMA, Pete worked with clients in the health, energy and manufacturing sectors at Harris, DeVille & Associates, an issues management and governmental affairs firm in Baton Rouge, LA.
