In general, do you believe that Pope Francis’ papacy marks a negative or positive trend in policy issues for the church?

Despite his talk of expanded roles for women in the Church, Pope Francis is still firmly against ordaining women as priests or, for that matter, as clergy of any kind. In March 2015, TIME magazine wrote, “critics have accused the Pontiff of having a blind spot for women’s issues.” Do you agree or disagree that Pope Francis has a blind spot for women’s issues?

In 2013, Pope Francis said, “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has goodwill, who am I to judge?” The Pontiff also said, “this church with which we should be thinking is the home of all, not a small chapel that can hold only a small group of selected people. We must not reduce the bosom of the universal church to a nest protecting our mediocrity.” Despite the church’s firm stance against gay relationships and marriage, do you agree with Pope Francis’ statements regarding gays?

According to Georgetown University’s Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate, some 4.5 million Catholics in the United States are divorced and remarried without an “annulment,” a declaration from the church that the first marriage was not blessed by God. The Pope has held meetings with certain leaders in the church that suggest they should invite divorced and remarried Catholics back to Communion. Do you agree or disagree that Catholics whom are divorced or remarried without an annulment should be invited back to Communion?
