New Zealand Inline Hockey Information Bulletin NZIHA Trials – NZ Player Information The Board is aware that many players are preparing for the upcoming trials December 5th and 6th 2015. The Coaching Committee have been working towards implementation of initiatives to develop coaching and corresponding outcomes from International representation. NZIHA would like to draw to the attention of players intending to trial the following information. It is important that players complete the expression of interest currently available on Sportsground to indicate attendance at trials. This assists our operations team to work out logistics including grade viability, scheduling etc. Sportsground Link Here

Trials will be held in New Plymouth 5th/6th December. The draft trial timetable is available on the NZIHA website.

Coaching Appointments include the addition of an assistant to help build coaching development in New Zealand and a new concept of “apprentice”. This is a development coach being mentored by a Head Coach. All coaches will also attend a coaching forum in Wellington in the new year to complete courses aligned to improve coaching delivery.

The Board resolved that players may only play for one New Zealand team with the exception of SM and SW players who may also be considered to play in JM and/ or JW if eligible. The intention is to provide the best possible outcomes for success at the intended event. These grades are gender specific.

For player intending to seek placement in the NZ representative SM, SW, JM, JW teams/ squads, fitness will be assessed via an inline hockey specific adapted Beep/YoYo Fitness Test.

For SM, SW, JM, JW at the upcoming trial a squad of 18 will be named and the final travelling team will be named in March subject to form and fitness.

For SM, SW, JM and JW these teams get priority on all players that are eligible.

An updated Selection Policy will be available on the NZIHA website shortly. This policy will reflect the information in this bulletin.

We draw your attention to the NZIHA dispensation rules within the selection policy and remind all players that dispensations need to be received by NZIHA December 1st 2015 for consideration by the selection panel in respect of naming squads/teams. Dispensation Application must be done online – Link to application form here.

APPROVED BY BOARD

All players for travelling teams will be expected to pay a $500.00 deposit by 31 January 2016 to the NZIHA nominated account with instalments monthly and final payment by 1 June 2016. Instalment amounts are expected to be evenly spread over the number of months before final payment.

For attendance at an international tournament NZIHA will follow the rules of the tournament for lower and upper age grade limits.

Teams will be selected on the basis of an ability to be competitive, lower age grades will not be selected to make up numbers. If there are not enough players to present a viable competitive team at the tournament the team does not travel.

NZIHA principle for team viability and size shall be:  The minimum viable team for non-world championship events is 8 players and 1 goalie. The maximum is 12 players and 2 goalies.  The preferred team size for world championship events (SM, SW, JM, JW) is 12 players and 2 goalies.

For international tournaments where New Zealand enters a ‘girl only team’, the selection panel will give preference to girls for girl’s teams over selecting girls for mixed/age grade teams.

For attendance at an international tournament NZIHA will follow the tournament rules where citizenship and/ or a New Zealand passport is necessary. In the case of an international event that allows for ‘living in New Zealand’ or ‘residency’ or a NZ Passport there is an expectation that the people who trial are committed or have demonstrated commitment to New Zealand inline hockey long term.

Player ‘attendance at trial’ or ‘application for dispensation’ is a declaration of availability to be selected into a team and confirmation that the player is available to attend the tournament event and pay all associated costs.

The Board reminds all players of the NZIHA no pay, no play policy. Please ensure all fees payable to Club, Region and NZIHA are complete to ensure this does not impact on your ability to be selected for a team. An updated policy will be posted to the website shortly. WEBLINK

We trust all participants in the game will see these initiatives are a good step in the right direction so that we develop and support our volunteer coaching community and our players. The Board wish to extend thanks to the Coaching Committee team for their work to improve our delivery and corresponding outcomes. We thank in advance our General Manager Krys Beardman and her team of volunteers who are giving their time to ensure the process and administration for trial runs smoothly for the benefit of all players. For the upcoming trials we extend best wishes to all players in their endeavours of success. NZIHA Board PLAYER INFORMATION - 2015 TRIALS
