Position: Assistant Director Reports to: Executive Director Nature of Position: Full Time, Exempt Basic Function: Responsible for providing leadership in developing concepts, setting goals, allocating resources and directing the efforts of staff and contractors pertaining to membership, member events and business/workforce development. Delivers member services and programs. Executes communications, marketing and PR efforts of the Chamber. Essential Functions Lead the Chamber’s Membership Goals: 30% of time Duties Include:  Pro-actively initiate contact with prospective member businesses.  Promptly and effectively respond to businesses and other employers inquiring about membership in the Chamber.  Actively seek membership prospects and develop and maintain a comprehensive and accurate database of prospective members.  Encourage ongoing and consistent involvement in the member recruitment effort by the Board of Directors, committee and Chamber staff.  Ensure the timely preparation of reporting for bi- monthly Board of Directors meetings.  Develop promotional brochures and materials for use in marketing the Chamber to prospective members.  In conjunction with the Executive Director and board committee, plans, organizes and implements an annual “Membership Drive” event and Membership Campaigns (Small Business Week, etc)  Working with other chamber of commerce colleagues and state and national chamber organizations, continuously seeks new and improved approaches for enhancing the Chamber’s membership recruitment effort.  Ensure the timely invoicing of all membership accounts and, using the established multi-step billing and contact process, secure the retention of the highest number of current member accounts possible, working with the Administrative Assistant.  Recruit and coordinate benefits for Leadership Circle Membership.

Executes communications, marketing and PR efforts of the Chamber:

Duties include:  Formulate strategies and activities to market and communicate the Chamber’s image and programs  Develop and direct Chamber publications (print and electronic)  Participate in business and economic development committee activities  Maintain website and social media for Chamber

Deliver member/business services and programs. Duties include: 30% of time Duties include:  Supervise the Events Coordinator in execution of Chamber-sponsored events  Direct the funding, development and execution of Chamber-sponsored programs (webinars, trainings, etc)  Maintain and develop partnerships to increase opportunities for members and business development  Advocate for member and business issues  Working with the staff, help to identify and develop programs, services and benefits that will create additional value for current and prospective members.  Create orientation program for new members to the Chamber, its mission and services.  Solicit and identify candidates for annual Business and Appreciation Awards  Secure sponsorships for assigned programs, events and membership activities.  Work with board and members to increase engagement and participation.

Support team in overall Chamber function and mission Duties include:    

10% of time

Contribute to strategic planning and visioning Participate in day to day projects and functions as needed Assists with staffing at Chamber events. Assist Executive Director as needed.

POSITION REQUIRMENTS: 

The Assistant Director must possess excellent organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, advanced computer skills and the ability to multi-task in unrelated areas. He/she must be self-motivated and must possess strong interpersonal and sales skills, analytical and financial management abilities, management skills, the ability to motivate volunteers and work well in a team environment.



He/she should have a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business or a related field or 3-4 years of relevant experience (marketing, sales, PR, business development).



To successfully perform the responsibilities of this position, the Assistant Director must possess a valid driver’s license, must be available for occasional early morning and evening meetings and events, must be able to devote the occasional additional hours required to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities related to this position, must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress and must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
