POSITION DESCRIPTION:

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

GENERAL DUTIES: Under the direction of the Second Ward Community Initiative (SWCI) Board, the Executive Director is responsible for developing, leading, managing and administering fundraising, budgeting, planning, communication and implementation of all community projects. Directs and maintains the central accounting system for SWCI Develops the budget for the organization to be approved annually by the Board Researches and writes all applicable grants and assures awards are used properly for SWCI Develops an annual fundraising plan and insures its successful execution; including a budget for each fundraiser Builds and maintains partnerships with local community initiatives, individuals and organizations that enable effective resource and fund development. Uses all forms of available communication methods to reach out to the community, governmental agencies and stakeholders for all initiatives and events, including enhancements and maintenance of the SWCI website. (This one repeats #5) Organizes a network of volunteers and manages their efforts Organizes and facilitates all aspects of events, including but not limited to the Community Unity Festival Works with the SWCI Board to oversee implementation of policies of the organization and monitor compliance with all nonprofit requirements Oversees all agreements including but not limited to leases, maintenance, utility, technology and insurance

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

SKILLS:

Strong communication and organizational skills in varied facets of communications

KNOWLEDGE:

Thorough knowledge of non- profit accounting and financial procedures. Basic knowledge of the principles of personnel Basic knowledge of laws (Federal, State and local) governing non-profit organizations and their respective procedures and practices.

ABILITIES:

Ability to prepare annual budget and annual financial reports Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with the SWCI Board, public officials, associates, volunteers and the general public Ability to exercise sound financial management Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally

REQUIRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of five years of experience in the administration of a non-profit organization Experience in community building and resident engagement Experience in grant research, writing and implementation Fundraising experience Flexibility in work hours to include evenings and weekends A true passion for service to this community

COMPENSATION: Compensation will be based on qualifications. However, the Board is the position of offering $35,000-$40,000 per year in salary. The position will allow for a flexible schedule and some remote working abilities. Additional benefits will be customized to the top candidate.
