5K CONTACT INFO: Race Director, Kristine Nolan 707.696.7632 [email protected] 5K Volunteers Being a 5K volunteer is a fun and rewarding job. If you are available to work on April 29 or 30, 2016 (see shift details below for specific arrival times), then please consider volunteering to work at the Girls on the Run 5K. Each category has a registration cap, and once the cap is reached, the category will be closed. The link to online volunteer registration can be found at https://www.raceplanner.com/register/index/S16Volunteer5k. A self-registered background check is required every two years to be a volunteer with Girls on the Run. We will provide the necessary fees and information to complete this. We currently have volunteer needs in the following areas: Packet Pick-up Race Day Set-up Registration/Check-in Volunteer Check-In/Information Table Safety Marshal Course Monitor Refreshment Parking Race Day Clean-up RACE DAY PARKING INSTRUCTIONS for 5K Volunteers: All volunteers are encouraged to park in one of the available lots at Sonoma Mountain Village, which will be clearly identified at the 5k. Please be aware that the property and parking lots will be closed during the race from 8:50am-10:15 am. If you will need to leave the premises during this time, please park outside of the Sonoma Mountain Village property. There is also street parking available on Camino Colegio Parkway. PACKET PICK-UP & REGISTRATION VOLUNTEER: 3 volunteers per shift needed at Fleet Feet on Friday, April 29 (see shift times below) 7 volunteers needed at Sonoma Mountain Village on Saturday, April 30 Registration/Packet Pick-up Volunteers help set-up and distribute the participant race packets, as well as assist participants in registering for the event. You will have a comprehensive FAQ that will enable you to answer any questions the participants may ask. Registration/Packet Pick-up Volunteers are needed for the following shifts. Fleet Feet Sports (111 Third St., Santa Rosa) on Friday, April 29 from 12:30 to 3:30 pm (shift 1) Fleet Feet Sports (111 Third St., Santa Rosa) on Friday, April 29 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm (shift 2) 5K on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Sonoma Mountain Village. Arrival time is 7:00 AM until approx. 9:00 AM

Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 6:00 AM. Shift ends approx. 9:00 AM Volunteer Check-In/Information Tent Volunteers help check in all volunteers, hand out volunteer shirts, hand out cheer supplies, provide information for restroom locations, race start line location, and all other important information pertaining to the event as needed. SAFETY MARSHAL: 4 volunteers needed on race day. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 7:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 10:30 AM Safety Marshals are critical to the safety and success of the event. As a Safety Marshal you will be assigned to work at one of three locations on the race course where you will act as a point of contact for anyone needing first aid during the event. You will be provided with the Girls on the Run Safety Protocol to be employed in the event of an injury or accident. Safety Marshals will carry a two-way radio for use during the event. COURSE MONITOR: 14 volunteers needed on race day. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 7:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 10:30 AM Course Monitors are critical to the safety of the runners and success of the event. As a Course Monitor you may be assigned to work at the Start/Finish line or one of the many posts on the race course where you will make sure the runners do not take the wrong turn and encourage all race participants as they pass your station. Please stay at your assigned post during the entire event. You will be the eyes and ears of the Race Director and may have to respond in the event of an injury or accident. Course Monitors must carry a mobile phone. WATER/AID STATION VOLUNTEER: 12 volunteers needed. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 7:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 10:30 AM The Aid Station is an area located on the race course approximately half way between the Start and Finish line. As an Aid Station volunteer, you will maintain a supply of small cups filled with drinking water and provide any necessary first aid to runners. Runners will pause at the Water Stop location long enough to pick-up a cup of water to be consumed on the run. Runners will drop cups on the ground when empty. Aid Station volunteers will be responsible for keeping the location safe for runners during the race, picking up, smashing, and bagging all cups and water bottles after the race and restoring the area to its pre-event condition. The Aid Station Lead will coordinate with the Race Director on getting volunteers to and from the Aid Station and to coordinate the delivery of supplies prior to the race.

REFRESHMENT VOLUNTEER: 8 volunteers needed on race day. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 8:00 AM. Shift ends approx. 10:30 AM Refreshment Volunteers work in an area located near the Finish line. As a Refreshment Volunteer, you will be asked to help cut up fruit/food and other post event refreshments for the race participants quickly and safely. All food handlers will be supplied with hand sanitizer and plastic gloves. Refreshment Volunteers will also help clean up and properly dispose of trash, recycling and composting. Page 2 of 3

CELEBRATION: 25 volunteers needed. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 7:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 9:00 AM Celebration Volunteers (e.g. “stylists”) help decorate and “bling”-out girls with hair doo-dads and colored hair spray, cheek art, tattoos and more. As a Celebration Volunteer, you will be asked to help set-up, take-down and clean-up the celebration area. We are looking for bubbly, girlie and fun gals who are encouraging, positive and playful. PARKING ATTENDANT: 10 volunteers needed on race day. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 6:00 AM. Shift ends approx. 10:30 AM Parking Attendants are critical to successful traffic movement and participant safety. Parking Attendants will be assigned to posts located throughout the Sonoma Mountain Village property. Parking Attendants will ensure that designated parking is reserved and that safety procedures and road/traffic guidelines are followed. Parking Attendants must carry a mobile phone and wear provided safety vests. RACE DAY SET-UP: 6 volunteers needed. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 6:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 8:30 AM Set up volunteers arrive early to help unload, set up and get everything ready for race day. Some heavy lifting may be neede d. Please arrive early, dress warmly and be ready to work! If set-up volunteers wish to leave the Sonoma Mountain Village at the end of their shift or during the race (7:45 am – 9:30 am), they must park outside of the Sonoma Mountain Village property. Street parking is available on Camino Colegio Parkway. RACE DAY CLEAN-UP: 6 volunteers needed. Arrival at Sonoma Mountain Village is 9:30 AM. Shift ends approx. 11:00 AM Clean-up volunteers arrive to help load equipment, clean up and get the site back to its pre-race condition. Some heavy lifting may be needed. Please arrive on time and ready to work! If clean-up volunteers arrive for their shift during the race (8:45 am – 10:30 am), they must park outside of the Sonoma Mountain Village property. Street parking is available on Camino Colegio Parkway.
