PRAYER GUIDE Psalm 17:6 (ESV) I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me; hear my words. This year at Oakhill Baptist Church we are emphasizing the importance of prayer by providing a monthly prayer guide that will help structure and organize the prayers of our people. Each month a new guide will be distributed and a new theme will be introduced. Our hope is that by using this prayer guide we will see an increase in reliance on prayer in our church and that God would gain much glory and honor in the spiritual growth of his people.

August Theme: The Next Generation This month our church is praying for our children, grandchildren, and schools as a new academic year begins. As we pray for these things, let us pray not only for the academic formation of the next generation, but even more importantly, for the spiritual formation of our children and grandchildren.

Week 2—Schools This week pray for the entire staff working in our schools. • Pray that God would release truth in these schools. Help students to discern truth and not believe false teachings. • Pray for all those who are victims of bullying. Pray that those who are bullying would be disciplined for their actions against their fellow students and that victims of bullying would experience relief from this harassment. • Pray for the principals and administrators would recognize the God-given responsibility they have for the best interests of the children who attend their schools. Ask that they would walk in wisdom, integrity, grace, and truth. • Plead that God would stay the hand of violence against the children and staff of our schools. Ask for Him to dismantle any plan to bring harm to them and expose any weapon brought into the school premises and render it harmless.

Week 4—Families This week pray for families as they raise kids. • Pray that the families of lost students will surrender to Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior of their lives. Pray that God will show them their lostness and their need of Jesus. Ask for God’s mercy to be shown on them and for Him to save them through Your Son, Jesus Christ. • Ask that the families of believing students will exercise a powerful and righteous influence in their school. Pray for God to empower them to live holy and obedient lives before their lost friends and teachers. Ask for God to remove anything from their lives that might hinder their testimony. • Pray that families would keep the Word of God as the foundation on which they build their lives together.
