THIS WEEK S MESSAGE February 9 & 10 08 Reboot Series When its time to adjust the default settings... This Week s Message: Facade Pastor Scott Lanigan Matthew 5:33-37 Lord, I would trust You completely; I would be altogether Yours; I would exalt You above all. I desire that I may feel no sense of possessing anything outside of You. I want constantly to be aware of Your overshadowing Presence and to hear Your speaking Voice. I long to live in restful sincerity of heart. I want to live so fully in the Spirit that all my thought may be as sweet incense ascending to You and every act of my life may be an act of worship. Therefore I pray in the words of Your great servant of old, I beseech You so for to cleanse the intent of mine heart with the unspeakable gift of Your grace, that I may perfectly love You and worthily praise You. And all this I confidently believe You will grant me through the merits of Jesus Christ Your Son. Amen. (Contemporary language added) A.W. Tozer, from his book, The Pursuit of God

SMALL GROUP STUDY QUESTIONS CONNECTION Take a few moments to start off your small group with the following game: 2 Truths and a Not-so Truth This is a great community builder and an excellent way to get to know a little more about each other. Each person gets a piece of paper. In no particular order, each individual writes down three statements about themselves. 2 true statements (e.g.) I have hiked to base camp on Mt. Everest ‒ try not to go with I have blond hair pretty easy to figure that one out… And 1 false statement (e.g.) I have never traveled outside Canada. After each group member has done so, each person takes a turn reading their three statements out, and the rest of the group guesses which one is false. Why not give a prize to the one who confuses the most people! (DVD of Pinocchio would be a nice touch) **The point is to write down statements that would be difficult for the other members of your group to distinguish which one is false.

ADORATION Spend a few moments in Adoration of the Father. Sing or listen to a worship song, and/or meditate on about these words from Psalm 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me? To end off this time, pray A.W. Tozer s prayer on opposite page either corporately or individually.

NUTURE In your own words give definitions for these words: •Authenticity •Integrity •Credibility Who are individuals, in your sphere of influence, who have these values? Take a look at the following passages: 1st Corinthians 13, Philippians 2:1-11, Proverbs 4:20 ‒ 27, and 1st John 1:5-7 How do these passages speak to authenticity? To Integrity? To Consistency? To speaking truth? Convictions? How is serving others (Philippians 2) related to truth-telling? How has the fervent quest for individualism replaced the longing and desire for honesty and integrity in today s postmodern culture? How has this impacted people s desire for community? Based on Psalm 119:11 and personal experience, how is living by God s Word both relevant and alive in a secular world? How does that look in your daily life? Following our mission statement for WPC Loving People and Following Jesus, use the statements to apply these texts.

Satellite Weekend - March 1/2 (RUSH)

Because 1500 kids will take over the Hwy 33 campus for Rush on March 1/2 weekend, services will be held at the Glenmore location (formerly Garden Valley, 228 Valley road) on Sat at 5:15p.m. and Sun 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.. Or you can join us at the other campus locations on Sunday (South 9:15 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. or Lake Country at 10:00 a.m.)

Following Jesus: In what area s of your walk with Jesus, do your convictions come to the forefront? What is an area of growth in your integrity? What is an area of growth in your truth-telling (Your Yes and No )? What area of your walk with Jesus needs to grow stronger (e.g. Scripture memory)? WPC offers great resources to help you go deeper. Check out the website or talk to your small group leader to get hooked up. Loving People: This coming week, take time to evaluate what you say. Are you honest? Do you tell the almost truth or the whole truth? Do people trust that you are going to do what you say you are going to do? Are you drawing people to Jesus through your actions? Is there a relationship within the church, your friends, your community that needs to be healed because you have not told the truth? PRAY for each individual in your group. That each one will be a woman/man of their word. That they will live with integrity, honesty and conviction. Pray for spiritually lost friends ‒ that God will give you an opportunity to share your love for Jesus with them.
