Praying for Greatness (Exodus 17:8-16) Jason Webb (Senior Pastor) April 25/26, 2015 | No. 6974

We all have battles. Some of us are in battles at work; some of us are battling in a relationship, and still others are battling deep doubts and worries. It is so easy for us to assume that we must fight the battles on our own. But true greatness means understanding that we don’t have enough power on our own to win our battles. We must raise our hands in prayer to God for his power to flow in us and through us. That’s what Moses learned.

When we raise our hands in prayer, God will raise them in victory. 1. We must raise our hands in prayer A. Our problem: We often live with our hands _______________________ (Ex. 17:7-11; Jer. 33:2-3; James 5:13-16; Eph. 6:18-20) Key question: -Where in my life have I been trying to solve the issue on my own and instead need to cry out “Help!” to God? B. Our need: Sometimes we will need others to _____________________ (Ex. 17:12-13; Gal. 6:2) Key questions: -Where have I grown tired and stopped praying? -Will I take the risk to let others hold my hands up in prayer for me? -Whose hands can I hold up in prayer?

2. God will raise our hands in victory (Ex. 17:14-16) Continue the conversation on Twitter and Facebook! #UnlockingGreatness Keep your weekly sermon notes in a 3-ring binder available at info centers while supplies last. Reflection questions are also available.
