BUCS Sports Development New for 2012 – 2013 • We are still in post – continuation of Sport England Funding - Advocating for, and influencing, the role of sport within HE and of HE within sport - Developing mutually beneficial relationships between NGBs and the HE sector - Support HEIs to develop their sporting offer, and the sharing of best practice Football •FA funded – responsible for delivery HE elements of the FA national game strategy - Work with focus counties to support the local HEIs - Workforce and participation Disability • Delivery on 2 levels - Strategic delivery to support accessible opportunities on campus - Integrating competitive disability sport within the BUCS programme (Into Inclusion)
BUCS International Sport • FISU World University Championships – GB teams in14 sports worldwide in 2012 • EUSA European Games 2012 – supporting entries by qualifying BUCS Uni’s • FISU World University Summer Games – GB team of c.250 - Russia, Jul ‘13 • FISU World University Winter Games – GB team of c.75 - Italy, Dec ‘13 • International representation – supporting 11 representatives, and FISU Forum • International Strategy – new strategy for 2012-15 Please come to the International session on Thursday for more information : BUCS International Programme – opportunities for student volunteering/ development and an overview of International competition and influencing Including presentations from student volunteers at the World University Games and FISU Forum
