PRIMARY PRESENATION 2011 OPENING SONG: SCRIPTURE POWER TALK:

PRIMARY PRESIDENT

As you would have heard from this song, our theme this year has been based on the scriptures. We have learnt about how important the scriptures are in our everyday lives and how they will help us to grow closer to the Saviour. The scriptures teach us how to be find happiness. In this presentation we will share with you some of the things we have learnt and hope that you will gain a stronger testimony of the importance of the scriptures in your lives. SONG : IF I LISTEN WITH MY HEART (verse1) ______________ : “Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do” (2 Nephi 32:3). _______________: The Scriptures Are the Word of God. ___________________There are four books of scripture we use in the Church: the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. We call these the “standard works.” ___________________The Scriptures Teach of Heavenly Father’s Plan for us. They help us to find answers to important questions like: _________________________• Who am I? _________________________• Where did I come from? _________________________• Why am I here? _________________________• What will happen to me after this life? SONG: I WILL FOLLOW GOD’s PLAN FOR ME ________________________Heavenly Father’s plan gives us freedom to choose right or wrong. Good choices lead to freedom and happiness, while bad choices lead to captivity and unhappiness. We will fill our lives with happiness if we choose to follow God’s plan. _________________________ The scriptures are important to me because they teach me how to follow God’s for me. ( Testimony of the scriptures)_____________________________________

__________________The scriptures are instructions that we need from Heavenly Father __________________When the Saviour lived upon the earth, He organized the church. There were apostles, teachers, patriarchs and bishops. He taught the people around Him the things Heavenly Father wanted them to know. He revealed sacred principles and ordinances to them. __________________After Christ’s Apostles died, the priesthood authority was lost. Christ’s Church cannot work without the power of the priesthood. This was called the Apostasy, and the people were in spiritual darkness—like having their eyes closed spiritually—until Jesus restored His Church through Joseph Smith. _________________ In 1832 Joseph Smith was reading the scriptures. He was looking for answers. He searched. He pondered. Then he went to a grove of trees and he prayed. _________________ Joseph wrote that he “ saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other— This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him! ” _______________ Joseph listened. He translated the Book of Mormon which is another testament of Jesus Christ. _____________________ He followed Jesus Christ’s instructions and restored the Priesthood. With the power of the priesthood restored, ordinances like baptism, confirmation, passing the sacrament, blessing the sacrament, healing the sick, being sealed together forever and many other ordinances can be performed. SONG: PRAISE TO THE MAN _____________________ The Church of Jesus Christ is the Saviour’s restored church. Jesus Christ directs it. He gives instructions to prophets who then share these messages with us. _____________________ When we read the church magazines like the Ensign or listen to General Conference where the prophet speaks, we are listening the instructions the Saviour wants us to hear. ___________________“What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, . . . whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same” (D&C 1:38).

SONG: IF I LISTEN WITH MY HEART (VERSE 2) ____________________We are blessed to have a living prophet that gives us revelation for our times. The words of the prophet are the things that the Saviour wants us to hear and be obedient to. ____________________The prophet’s words give us direction. Heavenly Father protects and blesses us when we follow them. ____________________I will follow the living prophet by _____________________ __________________________________________________________________________ SONG: STAND FOR THE RIGHT ____________ We can be true by keeping the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel. ____________ “We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in theLord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost”

_____________ Faith in Jesus Christ leads us to love Him, trust Him, and keep His commandments. _____________The Gospel is about us learning to love and follow Jesus Christ. _____________ As we search the scriptures, we learn more about the Saviour. _____________We learn that Jesus Christ was chosen before we came to the Earth to be our Saviour. _____________We learn that Christ was the only person who has lived on the earth who has set the perfect example for us to follow. ____________ We learn that through the Atonement, all mankind may be saved. ____________ We learn that just as Jesus Christ was resurrected, so too will we have the chance to live again. SONG : I KNOW HE LIVES

____________ That is why temples are so important to us. They help us to focus on the Saviour and provide a place where we can draw closer to him. ____________ Temples bring blessings to each one of us. They are a place where we make sacred promises to give of our best always and to serve one another in love. ____________ Temples are a place where we can make a promise to Heavenly Father to always be together as a family. ____________ Because the Saviour wants us to be the best that we can be, there are certain standards we must keep. By keeping those standards, we can enter into His house and learn of His ways. SONG: I Love to See the Temple ___________________By following the teachings in the scriptures we can come closer to the Savior. __________________To gain a testimony of the scriptures we need to read them daily, think about what we have read and pray so that we can receive a witness through the Spirit. SONG: IF I LISTEN WITH MY HEART (VERSE 3) __________________ The Spirit will speak to us in our hearts and in our minds. _________________ He will bring us peace and give us a testimony of the Saviour. _________________ All we need to do is Search, Ponder and Pray. SONG: SEARCH, PONDER and PRAY
