Title: Program Coordinator, Girls on the Run Michiana, Inc. Hours: Average of 18-20 hrs/week throughout year; up to 25-30 hrs/week during busiest times Compensation: Staff Position; Non-Exempt, Hourly To Apply: E-mail resume and cover letter to [email protected]. The Organization Girls on the Run Michiana (GOTRM) inspires 3rd-5th grade girls in St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties to be joyful, healthy, and confident through a fun and interactive curriculum that creatively integrates running. GOTRM incorporated in 2010 and launched in spring, 2011 with 12 girls at one site and will serve over 750 girls at 50+ sites in 2017. The council serves a diverse mix of sites and holds a commitment to economic and racial diversity as a core value. POSITION SUMMARY: The Girls on the Run Michiana Program Coordinator oversees all aspects of coach and volunteer recruitment, screening, placement, and appreciation and also provides assistance to the Program Director in coach training/support. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for maintaining the GOTRM website, social media, and other marketing efforts. This position averages 18-20 hours/week with peak activity during coach recruitment and placement and in the month leading up to the 5k Celebration. The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director. Core Duties/Responsibilities include the following: Coach Recruitment, Screening, and Placement Ensure all GOTR sites are staffed with qualified volunteer coaches and assistant coaches: • Recruit GOTR coaches utilizing the GOTRM website, e-news, Facebook page, local volunteer networks, local newspaper and radio, GOTR Volunteer/Coach Info nights, brochures/fliers, etc. • Recruit coaches through Notre Dame, St. Mary’s, and other local colleges (work with specific dorms, campus running clubs, ads in campus publications, volunteer fairs, etc.) • Respond to all inquiries about coaching and/or general volunteering • Receive and process all coach volunteer applications. Conduct phone interviews of coaches as needed • Coordinate and track all background checks, non-compete clauses, and health info • Coordinate all aspects of CPR & First Aid training for new and returning coaches • Maintain clear communication with all potential volunteers • Maintain detailed RacePlanner database of coach contact info

Program and Site Management: • Manage, train, and oversee the Show and Tell Program to ensure program quality • Gather, create a database of, and share stories that illustrate the impact of the GOTR program 5k Volunteer Recruitment and Oversight Recruit, screen, and place volunteers as needed for the GOTRM 5k • Work with 5k Director and Leads to determine number of volunteers needed in each area. • Recruit volunteers to fill all needed 5k volunteer positions (motivate and empower other 5k leads to recruit volunteers, market 5k volunteer openings via all avenues as listed above, etc.) • Respond to inquiries from potential 5k volunteers • Update and maintain volunteer registration web pages via RacePlanner.com • Ensure completed background checks for all volunteers as needed • Recognize and appreciate 5k volunteers during and after the event • Maintain detailed records of all 5k volunteers • Provide excellent and thorough communication of duties, timelines, etc. to all volunteers • Oversee volunteers on 5k Day (volunteer check-in, t-shirt distribution, direction to station, etc.) • Thank all 5k volunteers after the event • Coordinate volunteer feedback after the event General Volunteer Recruitment • Recruit and screen volunteers for internships, committees, and other council needs • Recruit volunteers for program events such as Coach Bag Fill, Coach Training, and other GOTR events as needed • Organize representation of GOTR at expo booths, volunteer fairs, etc. in coordination with the Outreach Coordinator and SoleMates Coordinator Program and Organizational Marketing •





Working with Executive Director, Program Director, Development Committee, and key volunteers, provide leadership in setting the vision and plan to promote/market core GOTR initiatives (GOTR 5k, fundraising events, registration, etc.) Oversee, with interns or a marketing committee if desired, the execution of the GOTRM marketing plan including: o Manage all aspects of the GOTRM website, creating compelling copy and working with all staff/board to ensure updated/accurate info across all areas (volunteer recruitment, site/program registration, board info, 5k info, etc.) o Manage all aspects of GOTR social media, newsletter, and general e-mail blasts o Draft and distribute press releases, media alerts, and promo spots o Identify and cultivate local media partnerships and coordinate media appearances with the appropriate person(s) (ED, PD, 5k director, board) o Coordinate the creation of various merchandising pieces such as school banners, yard signs, etc. as deemed necessary Ensure adherence to GOTRI and local branding and message standards

Additional Duties • Support Program Director as needed in other aspects of GOTR Programming • Support Development Team in fundraising duties as time allows Required Qualifications • BA or BS degree • Passion for GOTR’s mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox and Google Documents • Outstanding relationship building skills and the ability to quickly engage potential volunteers • Ability to recognize strengths in volunteers and manage volunteers effectively, sometimes redirecting volunteers who are not a good fit for a specific position • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team • Successful experience with marketing or communication • Ability to utilize existing and emerging social media platforms Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs) • Experience building media partnerships • Connections to the local community NOTE: The ideal candidate will excel in both programming and marketing fields. If necessary, GOTRM will consider dividing this job into two positions for two candidates with 10-12 hours toward programming and 5-7 hours toward marketing/development. Girls on the Run Michiana will accept applications on a rolling basis, anticipating a September 1 start date.
