Why Inclusion in the Workplace Matters Marie Gervais

The Elephant in the Room: Race, Religion & Culture, Issa Kamara

Marie Gervais, PhD., CEO of Shift Management, believes that a happy workplace is a profitable one. She has been helping industry hone leadership skill and improve productivity for over 10 years with online supervisory leadership courses and coaching. Her mission is to help technical people moving up from operations to management learn the people and decision-making skills they need to lead and to reach their business goals.

Issa Kamara is a Social Worker, community developer and Philanthropist. He is the Founder & CEO of the Sinkunia Community Development Organization; a charitable non-profit organization that supports the successful settlement and integration of African immigrant children, youth and families so they can succeed and thrive in their new communities in Canada. He is the recipient of a 2011 CTV/Canada Heritage “Citizen of the Year Award” for his work in promoting diversity, inclusion and multiculturalism in Edmonton. Issa’s education spans Universities of Manitoba and Sierra Leone, his native country.

Wendy is an accomplished trainer and adult educator with over 30 years’ experience in Human Resources, staff training and leadership development. She is currently Chief Operating Officer at Inclusion Alberta. Wendy is an active Rotarian and is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Mayfield. She has held several roles in Rotary District 5370 and today is the Chair of the D5370 Rotary Employment Partnership. Inclusion Alberta Wendy McDonald

Wendy is co-founder of an employment partnership that has been internationally recognized by the Essl Foundation and the World Future Council and its Scientific Advisory Committee exemplifying practices consistent with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities after a review by a 100 disability experts of practices in 84 countries. Wendy fundamentally believes that individuals with disabilities deserve the opportunity to participate as full contributing members of our community.

Johnson Tran turned his volunteer experience working with people with disabilities into a career when he joined Goodwill Industries of Alberta in 2017 and became the manager of a newly created Goodwill@Work division in 2018. He is responsible for Creative Hiring. developing and executing Better Business. on an integrated vision Johnson Tran to innovate in workplace training, job creation, and community engagement through micro social enterprise. Prior to this, Johnson worked on process improvement and implementation at several technologyfocused startups and government organizations. Kerri Davis has years of experience in both job development and with people with disabilities – this combined passion led her to be the full time employment coordinator for the Tri-Region area. Working exclusively with Tri-Region businesses to establish best-fit, meaningful Creative Hiring. employment opportunities Better Business. for local community Kerri Davis members, Kerri focuses her time on getting to know the needs of local businesses and assisting them with job creation and integration for successful inclusion.

Brenda is a speaker, trainer, writer and consultant. She is the founder and president of The Robcan Group. Her Bachelor of Arts was earned at Brandon University and her Masters of Education at Simon Fraser University. She has been addressing groups for over thirty years about communications, humour, laughter, positive New Leaders for a working skills and wellness in Changing World of Work general. Her workshops and Brenda Robinson presentations are in high demand. She has authored four books and created an Audio CD set to help people to develop these skills. Brenda believes that we are on a life-long learning journey. It should be enriching, exciting, interesting and above all, it should be fun!
